Just inspired by a post further down the page, and was wondering if anyone has tried any different ways of managing arthritis and how they've got on.

Interested in any possibilities - has anyone tried magnets? herbs? supplements? exercises? anything else?

I have done:-

Magnetic boots - and still do
Aromatherapy - and still do
Tried cortaflex and a vets supplement - not much of an improvement for the price so have stopped and not noticed any significant deterioration
Excercies - steady slow work on a regular basis - and still do.

I offer actual devils claw and let the horse decide if she wants it or not. I use the magnetic boots every day - especially prior to riding or the farrier. But when the weather starts to change i u
put her on danilon as it is kinder on the system than bute (for long term use that is)

I use

magnetic boots
copper collar
cortaflex
danilon
Old Mac hoof boots so she doesn't need to be shod
prayers to every major deity including Vishnu and Budha!

I use cortaflex and many other things but the thing which makes the biggest difference to my 33 year old is never letting him get cold or wet.

He tends to be rugged on all but warm summer days. He wears leg wraps and is probably slightly overrugged at night.

Olf people with arthritis benefit from keeping warm and dry so I dont see why horses should be any different

im now on that vetrofen must say now iv got the dose right my horse is great and even bucked me of on thursday i was so happy as he hasnt been able to do this for a while due to djd in front feet not my skill as a rider
