Just watched a video and currently struggling to find a strapping pad anywhere online.
Anyone know of any good alternatives?

Hopefully Tag won't have a heart attack when I try it

Shires make a pad it's called something like 'leather massage pad' I think

I'd use a folded up tea towel to start though

I personally think the woman in the clip posted earlier is a bit over zealous. A good clip is the you tube vid of Laura B called 'grooming your horse' or something similar, the groom uses a folded up tea towel with what I think is good technique

Strapping will always have it's fans and opponents and even the fans use different techniques

Just found one on Robbies, the Shires one. £18 pfft!
I will have a look now, so just a simple folded up tea towel?

Yes or a folded up tea towel inside one if those sheepskin mitts to pad out your palm

Back in the day we used wisps - I dont have the patience for making one of those these days though!

All videojug videos are a bit like that! There all a bit annoying/funny. I thought the Laura B one was on horsehero.com which you need a subscription for (could be one of the free videos though).

OP- I use the flat side of one of these... http://muc-off.com/en/car/48-chenille-wash-mitt.html?category=car&gclid=CPP2mZfwoLQCFaTKtAodkWgA4w

You get them a petrol stations/ DIY shops etc etc. I find them great for grooming.

Traditionally you made a 'whisp' out of hay or straw.
