Alternatives to bailer's twine...?

Everytime I tie Ali up using bailer's twine he manages to chew through it, and then holds his leadrope in his mouth and looks at me as if to say "It wasn't me Mummy!"

So, are there any "unchewable" alternatives to bailers twine?
 
Go to a hardware shop and buy about a foot of the very thin chain that is used to attatch plugs to sinks and baths. Use a keyring or some wire to secure it in to a loop. It will break is the horse pulls back.
 
I have a safety tie - can't remember what it was called - but about £3 from local tackshop.

Is basically a broken rubber ring that you feed through a hole and lock in - will give way under pressure. Perhaps try this?

Anything unchewable, won't break if you need it to!!! You could tie him strainght to the tie ring, but make sure you put a break point between the lead rope and headcollar. Atleast if the brealk point is attached to his headcollar, he won't be able to chew it!!!

Oh oh oh, or you could put bailer twine on your headcolar then tie the rope to the normal place and clip rope to bailer twine... they do this at some big race stables...

Im sure he wont be able to chew through something thats very close to his chin!
 
in my stable the person who had it before (enfys) tied an old bit ring to bailing twine to the tie ring. so the bit ring wouldnt snap but the twine will. also threding a piece of hose pipe over the twine protects it too.
 
I tried one of these quick release connectors, however it took Charlie about 20 minutes to work out that he just had to pull backwards and it would break. He found it vastly amusing...
 
Pickle knows all he has to do is lean sightly on anything quick release and bailer twine and it will break, have to be careful to have him tied up to two bits so if he breaks the first the second is still there!
 
I use Equities. They are plastic and designed to break under real pressure, but he may not find them as interesting to chew?
 
Amber down't need to break the tie, she just undoes the quick release knot, the old Appy did that as well and could undo butterfly bolts if you didn't put a clip on.

Equities are useless IMO. They broke was too easily! My horse has a habit of generally pulling on the rope when tied up but not braking away (he just likes to stand with his chin resting on the tensed rope!), the equitie gave way straight away...
 
My friend uses cable ties attached to the head coller. So they cant chew them and if they get a fright and it breaks they don't gallop of dragging a lead rope
