Having read a few negative BE posts (esp on price), how about we share some infromation about unaffiliated events on good or BE courses. I have a young horse so I am looking at just below intro and moving up to intro level. I have a friend doing Intro and another doing PN.

So to start it off:

Eland Lodge HT 10th August
Eland Lodge ODE 24th Aug
Aston Le Walls ODE 31st Aug
Keysoe ODE 31st Aug
Solihull Mini ODE 6th Sept
Draycott HT 21st Sept
Reasby lodge ODE (Brooksby) 28th Sept
Eland lodge HT 5th Oct

Sorry these are all midlands based. I would travel as far to an unaff ODE as I would for BE intro / PN if it was over a BE course. Does anyone know of any more?

Echo about PC events, they are usually run on decent courses and often BE courses. IME they are well run and a lot cheaper!
The PC website is quite good, it takes a bit of trawling through it but all the information is there if you want to search for local events.

Either the Warwickshire or North Warwickshire PC run an event at 2'9" at the end of July at Lazy Acres Stables. Go to the Pony Club web site and look at the activities for each branch. Course at Lazy Acres is a nice first time one with good grass dressage arenas, sj on a surface (did last year) and a flowing xc. Not expensive either. One of the Warwickshire PCs run at Ettington and that is a superb course which I think is used for other events too. The big course at Ettington is pretty beefy but the smaller ones are well built and encouraging, every bit as good as BE courses.

South Staffordshire PC run their event round Catton Park BE at the end of May, no good for this year but one to bear in mind for next.

Ah, and there was me about to suggest getting up at 4am and burning a stack of fivers at about 6pm having done a day of hard labour....it would amount to the same thing a lot of the time.
