Alternatives to Musto snug jods?

I've just noticed that my Musto snug jods are getting rather worn in the bum area. Nobody needs to see my knickers and I do get a cold bottom and thighs in the winter so it's time to replace them. They're £100 now though which seems quite a lot for a pair of fleecy leggings!

Has anybody found a less pricey alternative? I've just had some Equetech ones arrive today and they're okay but a bit short in the leg. They have stirrups like the Musto ones so this means that the crotch and waist pull down, probably not very comfortable when riding!

Any other suggestions? Or does anybody know where I can get the Mustos cheaper? I'm useless at finding bargains!

The Noble Outfitters soft shell ones are meant to be good.

I too am on the hunt for warm winter breeches but not at Musto prices and in Navy so am being picky!

I'll look at those thanks. Don't care about colour so long as it's something sensible and not bright pink or similar!

I've been wondering exactly the same thing as you OP :D Sitting here currently in my bright pink Musto Snug Jods and thinking that I really must get some more as my other (burgundy) pair have holes in so can only be worn around the house if I am not expecting visitors :o I wish they weren't so expensive.

They look like they could be worth a try, thank you.

The trouble is that the Musto ones are so darn comfy. Is it wrong to admit that I like how the waist band comes up to under my boobs and keeps my belly nice and warm?

I bought lovely winter jodhs from decathlon recently with a fleecy lining. They are v similar to the musto snug jodhs I used to have a few years ago, except for a proper waistband fastening whereas my musto were elasticated I think.

Ha ha, not wrong at all. I like the way that they keep you warm 'all the way up' :o :o

I second the Decathlon Kipwarm jodhs (though they are cut more like breeches at the bottom of the leg). They are definitely warm and pretty waterproof too. I also like the fact that they are a slightly rubbery texture on the outside, which helps to stick you in the saddle. A much cheaper option too!

I would pay the £100 and get another pair of Mustos. You could easily spend a bit less and then find they aren't as good, which is quite likely, and end up going back for Mustos again, that's exactly what I did.

I love my Pikeur winter weight softshell breeches although I have to admit I do like the fact that the Musto Snugs come up so high.

Dublin have launched winter weight riding tights with a silicone seat which look like they could be a good option.

That is what I needed to hear. I didn't want it to be true but if I am going to be disappointed by buying a cheaper brand then I will have to ask for some Mustos for Christmas. I don't want to give up the 'all enveloping' warmth that they provide and I prefer a stretchy waistband because my weight fluctuates depending on what medication I'm on so I know the Mustos will always fit.

During the winter I pretty much live in Musto Snug jods when not at work. I've got four pairs in various states of disrepair but I've not found anything that comes close. They used to do some called 'ultimate snugs' which I thought were even better and warmer but I've not seen any ultimates for years.
I saw some beige snugs at Olympia last year for £45 as they were apparently old stock. I never thought I'd regard £45 as a bargain.

I live in the Turfmasters Killeen Winter Breeches most of the year, I have two pairs that I cycle whenever the weather is less pleasant, I've had them for about 18 months - 2 years and both are still in excellent condition. LINK They're water resistant, soft shell and fleece lined, so keep out the wind and damp. The fleece is light though so on damp summer days they're good too. Bottoms of the legs are velcro. (Kids sizes go up to 28" and are a good bit cheaper for anyone small looking for a bargain)

Check out kipwarm from decathlon. They are cheap and 100% waterproof. They are a shade rubbery but this is not something I have noticed when it's tipping down and I'm still dry!

Thank you all. I do take the point that it may be better just to stick with the Snugs as they are known, good quality and do actually fit (jodhpur fit is the bane of my life!) but I'm going to have a look at the others and consider my options.

For those that like the decathlon ones, do you find you need to go up a size in them? I got some thin summer ones from there recently and found them a bit small really.

I swear by my Decathalon kipwarm breeches - I've bought 5 pairs in total :)

I find them true to size, if not on the large size. I'm a size 6-8 typically in jeans and wear an 8 in Decathalon - they aren't too big, but if they did a size 6 I would try those, if that makes sense?

I have the HKM softshell breeches - they are pretty waterproof and very warm although I find them a bit rigid in the saddle (they don't seem to bend enough when I am on the horse). They are lovely for yard work though.

I also have HyPerformance in beige for hunting and they are very warm.

I used to have the Mustos and I can't quite get over how ugly I think they are, even though they are lovely and warm.

I find the Decathlon ones a little large too. I wear a size 8 in normal trousers, and usually a size 10 in other brands of jodhs, but the size 8 Kipwarm ones are slightly large on me (not hugely though). However, I've heard other people say that the larger sizes are a bit small, so maybe their fit varies across the range?

Thanks for this suggestion, I'll have a look. No jodhpurs look good on me (big thighs) so the Mustos being ugly isn't really a problem!

Perhaps they just make them all to the same measurements regardless of what size it says in the label! There's no way I'd dare size down but perhaps trying my usual size will be okay.

I have the Kerrits they are very comfy.

These look to be a bit low rise for me but thank you. The horses in your photos are gorgeous!
