I am struggling to get hold of a supply of simple system feeds and was wondering whether anyone knows of any alternatives out there. My two are fed on Greengold and lucinuts. I was wondering whether the dengie alfalfa range are similar???

I've not used SS feeds but feed mine in what I believe is a similar way. They have unmolassed chaff, alfalfa pellets (soaked) and unmolassed sugar beet as a base then either a balancer or Forage n Fibre (from Rowan and Barbary) which is a cereal free high fibre mix. Has worked really well this last winter.

Thanks! Silly question but please can someone explain the benefits of feediing Alfalfa - We feed Top Spec and are really pleased with the results. I thought about adding Alfalfa to give abit more fibre into their diets all the horses 3 are TB's.

Thank you!

I've got an 18 year old retired TB and struggled to keep weight on her through winter but after feeding the Lucie Nuts she always seemed to keep her weight. That was the only thing that was changed so I can only put it down to that. Every horse I have had here since I can keep weight on. Had an out of training racer in February that was very lean but managed to get weight on him without fizzing him up.
Alfalfa by the way is really cheap by the bag too!

Greengold subsitute - closest thing you probably can get is Dengie Alfa A lite. I used to feed Stinky this before I changed to SS.

It still has a little molasses in it - the ingredients are Alfalfa, Molasses Extract, Mould Inhibitor, Antioxidant, Mint Flavour unlike the SS product which is just alfalfa and nothing else as I understand it.
