alternatives??

I have recently put an application in for an american barn in the north dartmoor area. The barn would have a hard core track going down to it from the road, but the planning officer thinks it would be "ruinous" to the landscape. Im trying to come up with counter arguments and alternatives to this but have hit a dead end!

Does anyone have any ideas for some kind of alternative track??

that mesh stuff that you can grow grass through, it's used for car parks at stately homes etc. i think fieldguard might sell it. it's stable enough to take big lorries iirc but looks like grass from a distance.
from my experience, if you give planners a choice (e.g. i've done it before, asked what colour roof they'd like my stables to have, and tiles or onduline, and what colour walls) it keeps them much happier...!

gravel? or flint stones....they stop it getting mucky but you wont get stuck in it like you might with gravel
