Aluminium Bin- safe to use?

I have purchased an aluminium bin to store horse food in. It is a traditional household dustbin, not especially made for equine uses & I will fix the lid down with bungees. I have washed it inside, do you think it would be safe to tip the food straight in? The whole bag won't fit in when full due to it being the wrong shape. Will there be any sort of residue from the bin that could affect the feed? Thanks

Line it with some thick paper, easier to clean out too.

Wouldn't have thought so but you could always use a dustbin liner to put your mind at rest.

I would rinse it out when new, but then dry and use as usual.
