Anyone got one? Had one? I just love them..that plush coat and hideous face...game little dogs, they seem...BUT never owned one (cat person, really!) so any advice/views? They aren't cheap...!

I have a british bull dog and you either love em or hate em and i think a pug is the same. Part of their charm is the ugliness of them. My local vet receptionist rescued a pug and it was a dear little sole, very timid at first then came out her shell and was a great character. Go for it if you can offer a good home, lifes too short not to have what you want.

I know a pug, bless her she is the sweetest little thing.

Prone to breathing problems and weight problems. Real lap dogs, like short walks and that's it!

I have a British Bulldog too! My friend has two pugs, they are both adorable, but even more snory than my Bulldog! But they are very lively and full of beans, I love them

They're an extremely popular dog in the city. They're not for everyone, but there's no denying their super sweet personalities. As long as you contact a breeder who does the relevant health testing, don't over-exert in hot weather and don't overfeed, your pug should be fine. (And I see *plenty* of active puglets at our local park.)

Thank you!!

One thing I will say is that they shed. A lot. The black ones actually shed less because their coat isn't quite as thick.

Not strictly true

there are several around the agility ring, they're actually very good at it.

I absolutely adore them and if we could have afforded one before I got into the Jacks I'd have had one in an instant!!

But like has already been said, breathing and weight probs but if you look at it like that every breed has health probs of some point

Minerva..I'll send pics!(when I get one!)
Bedlam...oooh that is soooo gorgeous...maybe I'll just watch that all the time and save the expense (boy, they ain't cheap!!)
Dante:It's a big county! Where are u?
He/She shd get as much exercise as he /she wants...and I'll watch the weight. Have to feed the cats high up to stop PigPug getting lardy!
Must work out how to upload pics so you can all see my amazing cat, Caramac, who has "hands" on his fron feet...known as the dorset thumb..evolution? he uses it just like a real thumb! freaky!!

My sister has ALWAYS wanted a pug, and it always had to be a black one. I never really saw the attraction
