Would like any opinions or advice please. I am considering taking my pony to show jumping clinics with Alwyn Varley at Speetley, and xc clinic at Osberton with Mark Cavell. Organised by East Midlands Dressage Group?
Any experiences, what are these instructors like? I am experienced but not as brave as I used to be. Pony is capable but needs work on his technique and our partnership.

I've had a lesson with Mark, he's a brilliant instructor, doesn't put up with any cr4p, but equally knows when *not* to push further. Never done his water schooling but from what I've heard it's very good, I keep meaning to book on to one but I'm usually busy or my driver is at work (lol).

Mark's water schooling is fab and a lot of fun. Daughter has done it several times with PC. Take a set of dry clothes as even if You don't fall off you might get wet from the splashes. She did it with an experienced event pony and then the following year with a 4 yr old horse, and mark really tailored his instruction to suit. Def recommend.

Mark is very good.

If the Alwyn is the same Alwyn I have had a lesson with before, he was very nice.

Both are excellent, encouraging and inspire confidence. They have a wealth of experience between them. Alwyn is highly respected in both the eventing and showing fields. Mark has taught and evented for years. Both are quiet but positive. I admit I have known both for years and wouldn't hesitate to train with either .Go for it.
