:( So having scraped together a bit of spare cash I decided to treat T'Khasi and myself. After a bit of browsing online, I found that Burnhills had a nice range and were having a sale, so opted for them. They have a very nice website btw, so the next part is not their fault - I am apparently phobic of shopping!

I kept selecting items and then couldn't bear to buy them! :o Eventually I settled on a mw turnout and a mw stable rug, as well as replacement supplements as am running low. Had intended to get myself a fancy new grooming kit but couldn't justify buying it. I was concerned it would never get used - I currently have one generic brush, a mane and tail brush, a rubber curry comb and a hoof pick and seem to manage fine.

I shouldn't really be surprised. I haven't bought myself new shoes in three years, never did buy a replacement cooker (have a slow cooker and george foreman grill thing instead) and am currently procastinating over buying a new fridge freezer. The last one died a week or so ago, and I have been putting off replacing it. Tea is surprisingly nice without milk, and as we are out everyday to the yard, I am shopping little and often. The dogs meat stays fresh enough this time of year in the utility room - it's cold in there. I wonder if we could convert it into an ice house...

Anyone else unable to shop unless poked with sticks? Do I need help? More importantly, do I need the grooming kit? Does anyone actually even use a flick brush? I am aware that more rugs are of course inevitable :D

<wonders if the mane and tail brush was really needed...>

much the same to be honest I hate parting with money on unnecessary items if they are in dire need the ponies get everything but my turnout rugs fit all of them and are about 15 years old my bandages and fibregee are about 35 years old and getting a bit holey now but still function.
food bill frustrates me no end as soon as I find something cheap and tasty the bloody supermarket doubles its price how anyone can say the cost of living is only going up bu 4 percent puzzles me a dog treat packet went from £1 to £1.20 passata for sauces from 29p to 69 p and oh treat a cake once a week from £1 to £1.22
Fruit my passion from 1 to 2 pounds so even the few things I do buy have at least gone up by 20 percent and other things by a lot more than that

Oh yes, fruit has shot up :( Ridiculous, isn't it?

Yep, you have to face your fears and spend money. The more you spend the easier it gets....:p

This is coming from a 'i refuse to spend more than 20 quid on a pair of shoes once in a blue moon but will spend what ever on horses feet' :o

Im the same, i have to really, really want something for myself before i buy it. Although as the horse is broken i think im starting to develop a shoe habbit:redface3:. I cant wait for him to be fixed so i can go back to buying saddlecloths and fly veils! :biggrin3:

I hate shopping, is ages since i brought myself anything and i hate food shopping with a passion!!! mind you i am always broke so no choice really however as soon as i have some spare cash i head for the horse shops! i desperately need new jeans and trainers but have just brought my lad a new rug!!! no wonder my OH loses the will to live sometimes:o

I suspect my issues are similar, tbh. Tomorrow we go shopping for a fridgefreezer - today husband strong armed me into buying two more brushes, a grooming block and a salt lick...he had hoped I would buy myself new wellies and jods but has now given up, poor man!

Does anyone actually even use a flick brush? QUOTE] Yes!!! I used to be sceptical and it lurked in my grooming kit for about 2 years- and then I discovered the total satisfaction it gives flicking off all that grease worked up with a curry comb!!! I use it every time I groom, well worth it. :)

I hate food shopping, clothes shopping, not keen on horse shopping either.

Yesterday I forced myself food shopping, every item (7 items) in my basket were all reduced, and I didn't want to hand over £6 to the cashier.

This year, I reached the point where I could feed two adult humans, five large dogs and seven cats on under £25 a week. Tesco reduced section at silly o'clock in the morning and meat man for the dogs! I have since convinced myself to spend a bit more on groceries. Justifying it by giving the animals share of anything safe for them to eat, lol.

<needs to get people to STOP dumping their unwanted cats on her>

As to the pony, bag of speedibeet and bale of unmollassed chaff go a long way :) Am trying to ignore the cost of his supplements, he needs them so he gets them, iyswim. He is coming along very nicely, and starting to look rather striking if I do say so myself.

This thread made me giggle :) Do you know if there is a term for the opposite of a hoarder? ;)
I find shopping stressful which is why I don't do it that often but I somehow accidentally bought a flick brush when I was getting things together to buy my horse and I don't like it so it sits forlorn in my grooming kit gathering dust :)

Those poor, neglected flick brushes! Where is the RSPCB, eh? :D

Me to!
Ned has everything she could possibly need, but my posh do "going out" shoes are actually my old school shoes lol
Often I spend ages filling a basket or trolley then put it all back and leave the shop with nothing
Also if I HAVE to spend over a hundred pounds on anything I actually start to shake, sure I'm going to be suspected as a card thief one day as I do look suspicious standing there pale, sweaty and shaking whilst holding my card in a death grip :-)

I wish I had that problem. I love shopping. Mostly horse stuff but also me stuff too. Hence I have a garage and a shed stuffed full of horse stuff and 70 odd pairs of shoes in my wardrobe.

I do come in handy for friends thou. If they ever need anything they rummage thru my "tack shed" as they call it and can usually find what they need.

I did mention to my OH last night that I may want some long boots for Xmas .... He just sighed and said, so the other 4 pairs no good anymore then!

Who ever bred natives who live off fresh air- hats off to them!!! Aside from the fact I prefer native/cob types, I am not sure I could afford horses (generally TB types) who had to fed to keep condition and feed myself too (in the horse world I'd be a poor do-er!!).

Yes, I always feel sorry for the shop assistants :( Am sure they think I am utterly insane, tbh!

<they may be correct, seven blimmin cats after all!>

Natives are wonderful :)

So glad I'm not the only one!

Can spend ages in a tack shop, H even has a bigger wardrobe than me!

Clothes shopping I do rarely, cringe at the prices, hate trawling round not being able to find anything/ having to try stuff on

Yet I always seem to find at least one thing to buy in a tack shop that I don't really need :p

Well, I finally bit the bullet! New fridge arrives on Monday, it has an ice box compartment too. I will look into a chest freezer during the sales...

<would rather buy a second pony...>

I hate shopping. Clothes, food - awful. Most of my stuff comes from charity shops. No tat mind, I only buy designer stuff! I find it mind-boggling what my friends spend on clothes, hairdo's etc. Spend a fortune on the horses though, but that's different.

Utterly different :)
