I am 15 stone something, and 5'8. so not fat just chunky and big boned and tall!! currently have a 16.2hh big warmblood Ted who is no longer able to be ridden due to injury...so am buying another - I cant afford another warmblood but what others should I be thinking about? I want a big horse or 15.2+ cobby type - obv need one! but only have a grand to spend...any suggestions? x

ETA for hacking, and maybe a little jumping, and local shows etc

What you descirbe is what everyone wants!!....For £1000 you would have to get a youngster to break in or an oldie. It would be at least £2-2.5k for that type of horse in its prime? (and used to be more, its just the market is depressed at the mo).

If you can find one, well done!

But to be more helpful, try looking at Shire or Clydesdale xTB, they are much more active than they sound.

What about an irish draught x, although maybe a bit outside your price range.

Have you looked on "project horses", you might get something there.

exactly my point! she is £3500 and budget here is £1000....
...bloody gorgeous horse tho and not overpriced if shes as per spec

shes lush and better than described to befair. some one came to try her yesterday we loaded her, poked prodded etc then went for a hack, where i stayed back and she plodded home alone..

she also has a half sister that looks identical they would make such a good driving pair!

If I were you I would look for the types of horses already mentioned. Sadly you may have to save for longer but it is certainly worth keeping an eye on the ads just in case in the meantime.
