Am I the only person who doesn’t find the Shiteventers Facebook group amusing?

A small number of posts are funny, meet the original aim of the group. Some are just people showing off and there is no element of anything going wrong in an amusing way. Some are just baffling - eg a two minute very boring video of two people hacking along a road at about 1 minute 45 one horse does a very minor spook and is overtaken by the other horse. Then there are people doing very stupid, dangerous things or horses that are clearly in pain, badly trained, badly ridden but no one is allowed to post anything negative.

Happy to be told I am a humourless old bag and if I don’t like it don’t look. But if anyone does agree me would be nice to know I am not the only humourless old bag around.

You're not alone. If you out it innthe search bar you'll find old threads discussing it. It is not popular on here.

I find it despicable. I dont understand why anyone would want attention for negative things happening to their horse

I never saw the humor in it either. I looked at it several years ago and while some things were funny, most of it I found horrific.

I left it ages ago as I saw a lot of unhappy horses acting up. Nothing funny about that.

I really didn’t like it. Friends kept adding me to the fb oage, then I’d leave again etc etc, but I was also slightly horrified when I looked at any of it.

Completely agree! I briefly joined a few years ago and I just remember feeling sorry for so many horses... often terrible riding and blaming the horse (or the 'little sh*t) which was usually trying it's best to get them out of trouble

You're definitely not alone, apart from the odd genuinely amusing one or two, it makes pretty grim viewing.

There is the occasional funny photo where it's clearly been a rider fail and only the rider has paid the price, horse standing looking on bemused. However I left the group very quickly due to those photos being far outweighed by all the negatives already mentioned above. I think it's healthy to own mistakes and learn from them but perhaps not to celebrate them.

I'm another that joined for a while and saw a lot of unhappy horses and it wad obvious you weren't allowed to comment your true thoughts. I found it frustrating so I left.

I don't get it either and it annoys me when it and similar pages pop up as suggestions, especially as I'm not interested in horses since I've given up, but even if I was, it's not a page I'd find funny as like OP said it's people showing off

Totally agree. I find random videos are often cruel too. Have reported quite a few but they never seem to be removed. It’s quite depressing.

I liked it when it first started. It was a refreshing change from the heavily edited videos normally seen, showing only the best bits. A bit of self deprecation, reality checking and 'sh1t happens' was funny and offered a nice balance. But it very quickly morphed into something far more mean spirited. A celebration of poor riding, poor training, tense, stressed horses, horse-blaming and deliberately setting up dangerous stunts to get a 'good' video. I loathed the chunt, baystard stuff too. So I unfollowed a few years ago now.

Only way some of these people can get their click bait attention is to celebrate their lack of horsemanship.
