I went to see a 3.5t truck today, I was concerned about ventilation before I went (and mentioned it) but wanted to view as pictures don't tell the whole story. Having viewed and driven today it was exactly as described, drove beautifully but I am still concerned about ventilation(and I told the seller). I forgot to ask about internal horselighting and have since queried and I don't think i is sufficient. No deal agreed as I will have a full pre purchase inspection but I feel guilty for being keen at the time. Am I a time waster? Anyone selling a Marlborough Sport 2010 or a later?

I wouldn't say so because there are genuinely some people who ask lots of questions with no intention of going to view or ever buy either to get a sense of price range for certain types of horses or horsey products or are just being nosey.

I'd say make a list of any questions you have and do the full pre-purchase inspection with said list but also let her know that while you're interested you have a few concerns.

I also don't see you as a time waster. You wanted to check things out because 'seeing is believing', were still unsure, asked more questions, then made an informed decision.

Just a thought, but I had extra ventilation (sliding windows and extra roof vent), and extra lighting installed in my 3.5t horse box after it was built, as I didn't think there was enough of either. It was very straightforward for the workshop to do and didn't cost very much - but was definitely a big improvement. ?

When I was selling my 3.5 recently, I didn't assume the first person to view it would buy (they did) and I had made appointments for others to view, so no, you were not a time waster.

May I ask what you had done and how much it cost and when?
And who by?

It was a few years ago now. I had the horsebox built to order in East Anglia, but I was over in NI and just used a local horsebox manufacturer to add the extra (rotating) roof vent and sliding windows (similar to those on the front of an Outdoor Williams trailer). From memory I think I paid approx £250-300 all in.

I also had a second roof vent added to my old one, and then went back for a solar fan too. So, if the rest of the box is perfect, it could be worth getting some quotes to add what you need. I had my current one custom-made as nothing on the market was exactly as I wanted it. My current one has 4 windows and 2 roof vents. Love it!

I took mine back to the manufacturer as they were also putting in a climb barrier for me. it wasn't expensive for the ventilation to be done but i had no tools or anyone who could help at the time.

i would just get OH to do it now, as already mentioned you can buy windows or vents online and if you know someone handy they could do it easily.
