Am I being a bit fick? Does an 'ergonomic' headpiece have another name?

You know, the ones with the curves cut in them for the ears? Am only coming up with Kieffer when googling. And I don't really want a whole new bridle, when just the headpiece will do.

If all goes to plan, I might have a new baby to play with come Wednesday afternoon. She's a bit headshy, though. I'm wondering if someone might have twitched her ears. If so, I'd like to be as kind as possible and prevent problems rather than solve them.

I also have a baby to ride who has a big problem. He's suddenly got very headshy, whilst he was a little headshy previously. I found his owners with his bridle in bits because they couldn't put it on. I subsequently rode him for the first time in about 3 months, and his habit of throwing his head up and down seems to have exacerbated 10 fold. I also wonder if he is finding his bridle is too tight around his ears. His bit seems fine. So I was suggesting they look into this. He has had his saddle checked - and after some adjustment, things had improved considerably. This head throwing has coincided with his refusal to let anyone near his ears.

I'm looking for one like this too. There is the Jeffries IR, the sabre Cordoba, and the Albion K2 I think it is called. They're all a bit out of my price range though! Mark Todd make nice padded headpiece ones but not with the cutaway.

I am in Belgium and here they call an 'anatomic' bridle so possible you may find examples under this as well. They have lovely bridles here which are much cheaper than the UK, I have already taken an 'anatomic' bridle home to the UK for my head shy boy, and now that I think of it he is much easier to get a bridle on.

If you're after cob size in black I have one that no longer it's any of my horses. Just a headpiece

they aren't cheap, but my headshy boy is very happy in his Eleavator - they make them in such a way as to distribute pressure evenly and he certainly seems to notice the difference :)

How did the search go? As I'm looking for exactly the same thing but am so bored of searching for it! :p

I want one slightly more cut back than most (as in the whole area not just the ears) but not quite as much (or as expensive!) as the Dyon Difference Bridle... think I may be searching for something that doesn't exist except in my head! ;)

The shires Avignon is ace. Much nicer than other comfort bridles I have bought for 3 times the price.

I have researched a fair few, and this one looks as though it would be fit for purpose without breaking the bank. Thank you, Wagtail. Hope your horse is doing better.

Just a note, though, not all comfort bridles have cutaway headpieces. I have a comfort bridle which I paid quite a bit for, and although it has a padded poll, it doesn't have a cutaway headpiece.

There is an option to buy an ergonomic headpiece:

But at £49 for just a headpiece, the Shires bridle is probably the most economical version. We will see how it does.

Thank you once again for all your input.:)
