Hi, I just want a bit of advice on how Tommy is looking, I personally think he should be looking a bit better than he does ie: more weight on him, but just need your advice on what you all think please.
He is a 3yo 14.3hh Irish coblet. He was broken in in spring and turned away in November.
Sorry if pics are big
thanks in advance Kate x

Maybe a bit hippy, but the Spring grass will sort that out

We tried everything with Dizz at the begining of last year, and with three year old NF mare, but nothing worked - it was the grass that put the weight on.

Love the Shettie piccy

He looks nice IMO. I wouldnt want him any bigger. He is nicely rounded. He is a little bum high in the first pic so no doubt will growth another 1" at the front to catch up as he is only 3YO.

It looks like a small dog is standing on his bum in his final pic!!

He looks fine, 3yr olds do sometimes look a bit scrawny (sp) but once he starts to fill out in the summer with the grass he will look great! and if hes a good doer then best to go into the summer being a bit underweight rather than over. but i certainly wouldnt worry he looks very well

He looks pretty much spot-on weight wise to me - you don't want him fat! Conformationally, he is not particularly deep through the girth so that probably makes him look a bit 'lighter' than he really is, but his bottom looks fine and you can see from the rear view that if he had much more weight on then he would start to develop a 'gutter'.

Obviously, he lacks a little muscle, especially on his neck, but this will develop when he is older and in more consistent work.

Ditto others - looks a good weight.

Is he rising 3 or rising 4? He just looks like he's got a lot more maturing to do - probably grow another couple of inches and fill out consierably. And he's most likely using any excess energy to grow at present.

I agree with others, at 3yrs old they are likely to look a bit slimmer, but better as he is then going into spring with more weight. That grass will soon come through so you are in the best position now imo. He looks like a real sweetie
