I'm at a livery yard, it a nice livery yard... some bits of it niggle at me (like children using shampoo and not returning it) and such like.

But theres something about it that has been annoying me but i cant put my finger on what it is exactly.

But i've just looked at the updates on her website of the news on the yard and she has put one of the newbies on there and a little paragraph about them.... i never got that!!!

And i e-mailed photos of the kids over to go on the web site, and she hasnt.

Im just a bit annoyed. Im probably over reacting over something....... oh its prob the fact my horse doesnt actually have a designated stable yet!! and i also have another pony arriving that will be homeless too!!

Im also considering leaving, but my daughter likes it there, and has YO kids to play with while i ride, and they have kids parties there.... but then there is the money side.... £125 a week for my 2 part livery during the week, and DIY at weekend. Inc Bed feed hay. Although i dont think teddi has even had a haynet since he's been there! So my livery has paid for him to stand in a field!

What you think??? Im i being stupid over something totally small, or should i just move somewhere else?!!?!

well i think i know which 2 are going to end up being mine, and thats the ones round the front that still had all her house junk in when i looked last time (that was about a week ago)

It was also the same day i was wondering about moaning about poo picking not being done in a field where there were 10 horses, no grass and my pony was picking blackberries cause he was hungry!! And she has a brand new poo picking hoover thing!!
That resulted in her getting someone in to spray fertilise etc etc the fields while ponies were in another :s maybe im being an annoying fussy livery.

Well, i would be miffed if people were using my shampoo, or anything else for that matter without my permission. I think when prices are set at a livery yard it is worked out on a monthly basis for all year round. I would be unhappy at paying £500 a month for grass livery. I think they ought to be either allocating you 2 stables as per agreement or reducing your livery until the matter is resolved.
I wouldn't be miffed at not being on the web site, perhaps she was really busy at the time and she had prioritized. Fair enough I reckon. I certainly wouldn't be thinking of leaving a yard because of this.

It actually sounds like quite a nice place to be. Not all yards are as child friendly and if you have kids that you need to take to yard, i would think that this was a pretty important factor.

No yard is perfect, you have to weigh it all up and make a decision.

Get packing and move - if it is this bad now -wait till the long dark depressing days of winter arrive - especially crimbo eve, and crimbo day when you find your ponies either stood in and not being looked after properly or out and not being looked after properly.

Oh and the yo's kids will expect huge prezzies and do your head in

Yeah i think im miffed at the whole stable thing, and yeah maybe she was busy on the website thing..... maybe my new pony tomorrow will get a mention along with Teddi.

And maybe shes cleaned the stable out since i looked last week... i hope so!! Or im not going to be happy tomorrow. Yeah you're right the child friendly thing is a total plus, as they have swings etc for them. Its probably worth paying the little bit extra. Im looking for my own yard, so may continue to stay until that happens.

I think i need to chillax.

Thanks peeps

I'd speak to her or just move. If you are paying the money then you should have a stable

slightly off topic but.......

I am still shocked at what you pay for livery in the UK. You get a nice stall on a nice farm and daily turnout will full service board here for about $250-350 a MONTH ( is that about 125-175 pounds? ) That includes all bedding, hay and quality hard feed and the stall cleaned daily.
Some even have the indoor arena heated for wisconsin winter.
You really only need to show up ...brush them and ride

A rough boarded horse would be far less.....less than $200 per month in many cases.

Move or stay?!?! hmmm..... well she does have a few children, and dont want to be harsh on her as i know its hard to juggle the 2. If i dont have my stables tomorrow then im totally moving.... shes had 3 weeks warning on the arrival of this pony tomorrow, so i think that is plenty long enough.

Plus the newer livery has a stable and i was there before!

and the other livery yard has x country jumps... and prob more show jumps too!

Now tell the truth have you been to "easy going" up there? (i know i usually am and then moan like a trooper when i get home) have you been heard to say "yes dont worry- no rush at the moment" etc because some people take this at face value and dont rush and think it isnt a worry.

yeah i probably have, i do ask alot though...... which stable is mine.... which stable is mine??

I was meant to have a certain stable on the yard, but now another horse is in it, so she said i'd prob have the 2 round the front, i did say i wasnt keen on them, but thats cause i only had ted, dont mind now though as got both round the front.... its just all a bit disorganised as at the moment.

Yeah i think the OH gets all the stick when i get home lol

So Mistral_Shining - you know what you need to do tonight ?

Practice your speech

"oh yard owner lady - could you tell me when i can put my beds down in the two stables at the front - i really want to get them in at night with the weather turning - can you make sure the two stables at the front are clear for me to put my beds down on Friday"

thanks

ok, right yes..... im sure i can do that.... ok i must do that!!

otherwise im just going to get more and more annoyed especially with all the money i spend a week to have my ponies there.

i really do need to get this straightened out! I will do it!!

Sod that I'd be off I would not be paying that much livery to have my horse(s) to be on grass livery....she should've had the stables ready before she agreed to have you to be honest in my opinion....especially as winter is approaching fast, I'd be telling Yo how you feel about it all - maybe you both can agree on something, like a reduction in livery til you have stables or something, but if it was me I'd find somewhere that can cater for mine and my horses needs.
Whatever you do though I wish you luck and hope it all turns out OK.

let us know the outcome
xx

No.... but was going to be a bit naughty and wind you up then lol

Come on girl you can do it - assertive, assertive, assertive.... shoulders back, look her in the eye and say " i want to put my beds down in the two stables at the front today - what time will they be clear?".... garbelled reply and dependant on answer you either
a) so what reduction in livery will i be getting due to the lack of stables? and i also assume the bedding is being stored for me for the winter (assuming you are on shavings at the usual 1 bale a week if on livery)
b) I will wait till Friday - this week but no later.

go on you know you can do it - big breaths pretend its the husband you are talking to (lol)

hahaha!! if it was the OH i was talking to, it would've done last week!!

ohhhh i know i've got to do it, we are/will be on straw, everythings included. Just need a stable, so even if my pony is out in the rain, he can come in and have somewhere to dry off etc. yes friday sounds fair.

Its hard asking for stuff, im not really confrontational until i get mega pee'd off and explode lol!! (prob not a good thing!)

Right im going to ask tomorrow...... or i might get the OH to do that as well, and ill hide lol

You could write a note (lol) or i know - send other half up with two name plates and a drill - he can do the asking then as he is going to "surprise" you with the name plates on the door cos he is such a thoughtful husband

JadeWisc, I think it very much depends on the area. In the Boston area, board was more in the $600--700 range/month, 4 years ago (had some friends with horses there).

I'm in Scotland, and pay 65 pounds/month including hay and poo-picking for grass livery. I'd never have been able to find something so cheap near large urban centres in Canada, I don't think.

Ohhhhhh now thats an awesome idea... i have one already for Teddi, i could pop to the saddlery in the morning and get another one, and get him to put them up!! all under a devised plan.

i think i am being quite wussy over this really, i should know really and im not really paying for anything at the moment, and my OH is getting annoyed as i guess he just cant see where the money is going atm.

This needs to be done!
