Am I being thick? But how big is a mug?

Forgive my stupidity but on hho often people measure linseed/equijewel etc in mugs.
My question is what size mug? A Starbucks super size latte mug? A greasy spoon cafe size mug? I've been using a 250ml measuring cup which is a standees bakers size cup.
Help the size of a mug has never distressed me so much

I had this dilemma so read how much the recommended amount was and weighed it and noted how it looked in the mug! In my case if was a coffee mug and about 2/3's full.

Only work in weights not mugs choose your mug wiegh what it holds then you know where you are
My mug holds 220 grammes of oats.
My linseed mug is 250 grammes when full .

we do actually use a measuring cup with a weighed amount I think (200g maybe??), though couldn't say for certain what size and not home until the weekend .- though only because it is easier to use. With regards to linseed I don't think it really matters too much -one of ours gets double for instance.
