I moved my horse onto a DIY yard about 2 months ago, he was being mistreated at previous full livery. I then bought another horse 3 weeks ago as older one has serious back issues and waiting to take to Rossdales. Now YO is a farmer, has absolutely no idea about horses but seems to think he does, normally we are all left to fend for ourselves as he only pops down once a day - mainly to sl@g off other liveries. Now I have been very accomodating to him, listened but never responded as tbh I don't agree with anything he says and don't want to get into an argument - in fact it is safe to say I do try and avoid him at all costs! His son is full of really good ideas but then gets scared to say them to his father so he tells him that we have made comments, again I have had to put him straight on this. Here is the issue, there are loads of ponies up the yard with kids that like to wiz round the school and jump, this is leaving the school very unlevel, as they have a silica sand base then rubber shredded on the top I asked the son if the school could be harrowed - it wasn't 'can you harrow the school' it was is it a possibility as I have never been on a yard with that type of surface so didn't know if it could be done. He the replied that he was going to get all the liveries to spend an hour in there to sort the surface out as he and his dad didn't use it so why should they sort it. I did mention that I didn't think the others would be up for it and really as it is part of the livery that we have the school it should be maintained correctly. I wasn't being rude, but my new boy is tripping quite a bit in there and also many of the others have been too. Then last night I was told very agressively (sp) buy the YO that he understood I had been complaining about the school and that I wanted it harrowed, I tried to explain what I said and he started Fing and blinding at me, I explained calmly that I just wanted to know what could be done in there and he said that I had told his son that it was dangerous in there and if I did not to Fing use it, he didn't want me falling off and then sueing him for it. I was so shocked that I laughed it off and said of course I wasn't going to sue him and that I had not said that, he then said his son didn't lie - no but he does smoke down the yard and his dad doesn't know he smokes - plus it is a non-smoking yard!
So anyway the YO apparently is well known for kicking people off the yard (then says he can't understand why he isn't full) and getting very aggressive - something I didn't know before I got there, the school is only going to get worse and not sure if I can take him being so rude. The problem I have is that I have 2 horses now and liveries are like gold dust where I am so do I just put up and allow him to speak to me like that or do I try and find somewhere else even if I have to split the horses up and also leave my best mate behind??
I know it's early but glass of champers and some strawberries for getting this far!!
