As some may be aware I came to the decision to sell my beautiful boy as I felt he wasn't right for me.

I've been really umming and ahing over this decision and I really haven't foundit an easy one.

We've had some issues over the past 18 months, including napping, rearing and being a naughty boy on the ground. Some we've solved whereas others have gotten worse. :( Having had my first baby during this time, I'm well aware that I have probably caused these issues indirectly through my sudden lack of confidence.

Besides this, he has some wonderful qualities, he has a loving nature, he's an honest horse who doesn't spook or bolt and isn't strong, he'll load beautifully and will let you do most things to him without a problem.

I was really sure that I had made the right decision to sell him and get a better schooled horse to build my confidence, but now I have someone who is very keen and I am having second thoughts, I think because it suddenly feels very real that he might be going soon. :( I feel that maybe I am being too hasty in my decision but how long do you continue to try for?

Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for me? I need a talking to I think!

I've been in this exact situation ! I ummed and ahhed for ages , advertised him then withdrew , then in the end he became impossible for me to get along with .
He was bargy , would not hack alone or leave the yard , he would buck and rear if I asked him to do something that he didn't fancy !
I was so so worried I was making the wrong decision with selling him but I did it , I sent him to my friends to sell for me . He's gone to a little boy and his mother who's very competitive which is ideal for him !

I now have the most amazing horse in the world , couldn't wish for a better horse ! I couldn't believe how much my previous horse affected me until I sold him but my lovely new young horse joey has helped me , my confidence is back and we did my biggest SJ course ever ( in the last 15 years of riding ) he's my perfect horse !

Honestly you are making the right decision . Message me if you need any advice

If you think you may regret selling him, then I think it's worth having one last shot at building your confidence with him - but I'd make sure you do it with professional help; either a good instructor for lessons or someone like an Intelligent Horsemanship RA who can deal with the groundwork issues with you.

If he is still too much after serious work then I'd consider finding new home for him. Congratulations on your baby!
