Morning all,
In the last two weeks I've moved my horse from a small paddock 1.5 acre) with not much grass, to a bigger paddock (3.5 acres) with good grass. He lives out 24/7. He is good condition, very warm horse. And I would be happy for him to stay the way he is but he could loose a few pounds in time for spring. I feed him one feed a day of chaff and thunderbrooks base mix (vit and min) and joint supp.
When he was in the smaller paddock I gave him a net at night with haylage (he cannot have hay, even if I soak it all day. He still gets a cough, hence the living out) I would say he is a good doer. Can live off not at lot and look great.
now he is out on good grass, should I still be feeding a net at night? or is it ok for him to eat grass all day and night.
as its so mild down here in cornwall. We have rarely gone below 7 degrees I'm sure there is still goodness in the grass.
I ride at weekends. Just hacking.
