I have been looking for someone to ride my sons horse out during the week, just a couple of times. We have excellent hacking,on and off road.
Now,im i expecting too much to expect this without paying someone, likewise i wouldnt expect any costs towards keep etc??
I just would like someone realiable, they could even hunt him the odd time during the week.
If i didnt have my own horse i would jump at the chance of this kind of set up......maybe im thinking wrong??

I would think there'd be people interested. Some sharers do prefer weekends but I'm sure there must be some who'd be happy riding in the week.

Where abouts are you?

I think it a good opportunity.
You are not asking for money so its like a share with out paying.
I would no way expect you to have to pay someone as they aren't schooling or training your horse just exercising it.

May be you are advertising in the wrong places or just the wrong time of year and weather putting people off!

Thing is, this time of year it's too dark to hack in the week after work. So unless you can find a student or someone who works part time you're likely to struggle! Not saying it's impossible, but that might be why you haven't had any takers.

Not everyone works Mon-Fri. I often have days off in the week, so it is possible to find someone.

That said, I've had two local people stop me asking if I knew anyone with a horse for loan/share. I'm currently unable to ride mine much as am injured, so have offered mine to them to ride - with no costs. Neither of them have turned up! A friend of one of them stopped me at a wedding to say her friend is desperate to take me up on my offer, so I said tell her to ring me. Again, three weeks later no contact! So I've given up and taken the shoes off! Whats the point in clipping, rugging and shoeing the horses for someone to come once in a blue moon! Both horses are lovely quality ISH allrounders with great competition records BS/BE. I keep wondering about getting a sharer, who could compete next year too as I'll be laid up then too, but don't know if it would be worth it!

I can't find anyone either, would be exactly the same - could hunt sometimes in week in return for couple of days exercising, been looking for years!

before I got my boy I would have jumped at the chance still would now if it was close as I'm only at college 3 days a week especally with hunting or competing involved. If its any help I used to ride a friends pony a few times a week no money involved so dont give up there are people out there :)

Definately don't give up looking; if I was closer i'd be jumping at the chance as I just have 6th Form and long afternoons with not much to do. As it is I have the opposite problem; i've been trying to find someone wanting help for a good few years now, but there seems to be a deficit of people needing it in my area x]
