how to raise 3 grand for the Charity race for Greatwood at Cheltenham?

I'd love to do it, have a horse elidgable to and am local.....but my fundraising skills are somewhat non-existant.

How would you go about fund raising to that level? I suppose there's sponsors we alreadyhave that I could ask, plus any shows we're judging at over summer, etc to give a call about getting involved maybe?

Ideas welcomed on a post card!

Yet another one of my randomspurofthemoment thoughts!

:o

Wow!!! 3 grand!!! I have absolutely no idea, but hope this will give the thread a bump so someone who has an idea will see it :D

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at local business eg accountants, solicitors, and send out 'begging' letter giving details of race/charity and how much you need to raise and ask for a sponsorship/contribution. You could start with the companies who have links already to the horse world, eg tack and feed shops..

Ring the local paper and ask if they'll do an article to help you.

Do you know anyone who works for a company that does the £1 for £1 sponsorship matching thing? - eg you raise £50 and the company match the sponsorship money.

Hope you get lots more ideas and good luck!

Sell your organs?
Seriously, good for you for trying (or thinking about it)
Ditto above for the fund raising but not really sure other than that :/

Hello... Haven't been on for a while ( new baby who is PERFECT btw haha )

Last summer I was in the Miss England final - miles apart from being knee deep in poo I know... But I had to raise as much money as possible for charity. I did 3 things...

1. Ran an unaff horse show at a local show centre with unique classes like a puissance, obsticle ride and run race, pairs etc...The day was amazing and allthough I didn't have the turn out I'd have liked ( PC show on same day locally - but I only had 6 weeks to plan and run events! We made around £600 and everyone had a fab time ( I held a show 3 years previously for a horse charity and raised over £3k in the day ( had 3 different rings, sold bbq food and had 50% profits from photographer etc... Quite easy to do too if you advertise properly!

2. My oh ( pro sj'er ) held clinics and gave me all money for it...People were all really keen as it was for charity, and he kept the prices down ( £20 per horse in groups of 4 max for around 1hr 45min session ) If you could persade a local instrustor to go halves with you on profit or something he / she should make a load too!

3. I held a bikini car wash... I had a load of my girl friends ( and me ) get their bikinis on at a local pub ( landlord was more than happy to loan us his car park funnilly enough.. ) and wash cars, we advertised it locally and had banners donated, along with the bauzer (sp) of water, shampoo and buckets etc. It was a really fun day and obviously we had great turn out, we kept the prices low - £5 per car and sold photos of the people with their clean car and a couple of the girls. The papers came down and we even got the ferrari garage to bring down a couple of cars!! On that day we made over £1500 and it was sooooo much fun * Please don't be mad with me for exposing women in such a way*

Hope this helps, Haven't seen where you are, but if you're local to me I'd be happy to help you organise etc...

Thankyou! Some really good ideas. If I did seriously do it, it's held in October according to the article and I've emailed Greatwood for more details...just want to think things through first and see if it would be viable to do or not....as it would be pretty fun to do and Greatwood's local to me!
