So I have been umming and aahing about getting another dog after one of mine sadly and totally unexpectedly passed away before christmas. Main reason for wanting a 2nd one is Ash is missing her terribly, he has got better but my brother brought his dog round the other day to check they will get on when we look after him while my brother is on holiday with his gf and ash was so happy having a friend again and so down to be on his own again when they left we have decided we should look for a permanent friend for him, weighed up puppy v rescue and decided that a puppy wasnt the right way to go as some days they would be on their own too long so older rescue is the way forward. Now ash was a rescue to with a pretty bad past and although lovely natured and never aggressive ( he ran away from a chuiawawa today and he is a massive malamute! ) so its important that the dog is 100% with other dogs as I absolutely wont have him upset after the things he has already had happen to him. OH is adamant he will only have another malamute so am I looking for the impossible trying to find a dog friendly mal in a rescue that isnt more than 2 hours from swindon??

there is a malamute cross looking for a home on dogpages, private homings, name of kye, 4year old dog...dont know where in the country though..may be worth contacting..

Have been contacted by someone saying they need to rehome their mal so sorting a doggy play date so he can meet ours. The current owners say he likes to be dominant so is best suited to a submissive dog which in a way my boy is as he is quite happy to have others make decisions and not stress about it but if anything picks a fight he is more than capable of defending himself so a bit concerned that "likes to be top dog" may be code for can be aggressive to other dogs which is not something I will subject ash to even for a short time as he had such a rotten start to life before the rspca seized him from his owners and he is still a little delicate.

Emailed the woman back about the dominant dog to say that although ash does not need to be top dog I wont have anything that bullies him as he has already been through too much and although I can manage and work with dogs with issues I wont bring one straight into my home and subject my dog to it so play date is cancelled as they said there dog is a bit of an ott attention seeker. Then had someone message me about an 2 year old epileptic bitch so need more info on that one.
Will fill out application with amruk when OH calms down from his issue with rescues after 1 never returned calls or emails and another cancelled a visit with the excuse that the dog had turned aggressive and was going into a foster home to be aassessed then the next day had lots of pics of it in its new forever home with the other dogs in the house.

AMCUK will get back to you don't you worry.
Epilepsy in dogs is heart breaking I have 3 friends in the breed who have lost their dogs very recently due to this the youngest being 3, is the epileptic bitch a private rehome?

Sorry to sound like the angel of doom but fitting dogs can sometimes cause a lot of stress for other dogs and in some cases can end up being attacked by other pack members.
Just mentioning this as you say Ash is quite sensitive already x

Yes epileptic dog is a private rehome have asked her for more information so I can speak to my vet but think that we might not be right for her as we are not home all the time and worry that if she fits when we are not there that she might be disorientated when she comes out of it and that may cause trouble with ash but will find out how severe it is and what the vets take on it is as I am a big softie and worry what will happen to her.
I have filled out an application form for the breed rescue but can'tget it to email so will try again later.
