Hi
I am currently looking for a first horse for my daughter moving off ponies. We want something safe , confidence giving with brakes that can compete in show jumping up to 3'3''. 15hh - 15.2hh with a maximum age of 12/13 and minimum age of 6. 100% to handle, load into trailer and hack alone.

In the South east/west- ideally berks, oxford, west sussex, wilts

I can't find anything - i have read hundreds of adverts and phoned many people in the month i have been looking. At the moment i have not even tried a horse yet because I have not read an advert which seems to sound what I want in what i believe is not an unrealistic budget. UP to £4000.

Can anyone help? Reccomend dealers? Find me an ad? Thanks so much!

Its so hard to find the perfect horse/pony it took me 6 months to find a first ridden pony for my daughter. Hang in there one the perfect one will come along.:)
Budget wise with the market as it is, horses are alot cheaper, but would like to mention i sold my horse 18 months ago he was exactly that type we sold to a 15 year to do PC on and we sold him for 7000 and to be honest if id realised how much interest i had him i prob could have got slightly more! Im based in berks so would be similar area!!
Are you only looking at private sales as i know a lady in fifeild that has your sort of horses through regulary, ive bought from her and would highly recommend her, shes a dealer though PM if youd like the details. :)

Hi - If you could PM the details of the dealer that would be great because I would consider a good dealer too.

i am looking for exactly the same - have a slightly larger budget but still no luck at the moment. I had one vetted which passed a five stage BUT had a small nodular sarcoid on one leg, a scar on his foot which had a small bit of ossification and an unknown lump in his chest. None significant enough to fail vetting but i ended up walking away. Anyway he is FAB and if you are interested and don't mind those things (i am happy to share vetting certificate) i can put you in touch with the lady. 15.2, chestnut gelding, jumps up to 1.10, very steady and easy - if anything a bit lazy rather than sharp. Very good looking. PM me if interested - he's in north Essex though so maybe a little far?

My friend is selling her 15.2 gelding who will jump round Intro and Pre-Novice tracks all day long. He has also done dressage up to Elementary level and has established single changes.

Only problem is that he is 15 but he is SOUND and has been for all the years she has owned him. He was 10th at Solihul BE90 today.

Good to handle and safe to hack.

He is in Oxon and she is looking for about £2,500. He is only for sale as she wants to progress to Novice level eventing and beyond but he isn't scopey enough for that.

PM me if you are interestd.

Unfortunaltley, what you are looking is also what millions of other people are looking - something medium sized, medium ability and safe - golddust in other words ;)

You either need to up the budget if you can, or lower the age ( lots of Irish 4 or 5 year olds have hunted as 3, so most have seen the word by 4! and are quite sane) or up the age - lots of older horses can jump 3f3 as well :)

Good luck!

I think you have to be a bit lucky to find what you're looking for.

I have just the horse, for my daughter :D but not for sale, he will probably go to my nephew, if I don't keep him for myself.

We were lucky, he was well known in the PC and I found him by word of mouth.

I also think you may have to rethink your budget, prices have plummeted except for the horse you describe - these sorts of horses are often significantly more than £5k and they don't hang around. Decide what is essential and what you will compromise on.

Good Luck.
