Am I the only one with a hunter clipped horse out 24/7 in a lightweight atm?!

My horse has been in a mediumweight combo with a recently done fine clip all over apart from legs and half face, and sweating in her medium rug!- so i put on her medium standard neck, still sweating and now she is in a lightweight combo and warm! No other horses at my yard are out in light weights even the hairy beasts, but she seems quite happy in it. She has suddenly put on a huge amount of fat though and i assume this is keeping her warm (hopefully she will burn it off as I'm worried about how fat shes getting on the grass- due to yard arrangements they have a huge amount of land to roam with lots of grass, cant be helped).

I know its got a bit warmer but shes been in a mediumweight at this temperature before, anyone else got their clipped horses in lightweights?

I wouldn't worry too much - if she is warm then it sounds like you are doing the right thing.

Mind you, it has warmed up quite a bit now - last week I would have wondered!!

Thanks, I can't help wanting to wrap her up ! last week she was still warm but probably all the sugary grass- yard next door said they often see her whizzing around the field having mad half hours so must be the excess energy!

mines hunter clipped in a mw combo, she's a cold horse tho and last week was in a lw combo with a mw over that

it's all dependant on the horse, if they're warm at the base of their ears/behind the front leg and not sweating/shivering - then you've got it right :)
