Just curious what people think following a comment from someone.

Yes you're far too lardy, you must weigh at least 20stone plus tack  Don't you think you're big enough to move onto a horse and stop squshing 12hh ponies?

You look tall and slim on the picture and the horse looks narrow and short in the neck, but it is a head on snap so impossible to see the horse properly.

Too big has many meanings, but you certainly don't look heavy. Tall men ride small horses perfectly well, look at Mark Todd and William Fox-Pitt, they are both very tall.

I think it depends from how much you weigh / how big the horse id but jugding by that picture certainly not!
you look to be a pretty fit person and not carrying any extra pounds, and the horse is clearly enjoying himself and jumping well.
I would say its a height issue if someone has said your too big for the horse. you look to be a taller man, and if your comfortable riding something that height then go for it! just out of interest how big is the horse? im 5"11 and much prefer something over 16hh just so my legs arent hanging next to empty air!
however height doesnt = being too "big" for the horse.
hope this helps :)

Too heavy, no way! Too tall maybe - from this photo though. It strikes me as one of them 15hhers which you feel fine on, but on a photo, look taller on maybe?

I'm 5ft10-ish on a 15.2hh there :) Not too heavy, but the build of how I am throws him out of proportion. [Or past tense rather, he was an old works one I rode on occasion]

Is that at Moulton? I recognise the arena I think, used to go to college there.

I think that as you've made a bit of an effort on the matchy matchy (poles, edging of saddle cloth and lining of jacket), you may get away with it. ;):D

Seriously though, you look a little tall on him, but not too big in terms of heavy. It may just be the angle of the picture. :)

I would just like to point out I had my grey jacket long before grey became popular. :p In fact it was reduce from £260 to £40 at a large horse show because nobody wanted it. I only got as a) very good quality and b) it was the only jacket I could find that almost fitted me.

And what a smart jacket it is. We all have to start our matchy matchy collection off with one key item. :p;)

I don't think it overcomes the london tan bridle & black saddle combo though :(.

black saddle, black on stirrup irons, brown girth with black cover  And a brown bridle / breastplate  Black boots on the horse, grey jacket and hat on rider, the lining of jacket may match saddlecloth binding but defo doesn't match the blue on the jump

It's a horrific matchy matchy car crash!
