Am i too big/heavy?

I am 5ft9.5, female slim and weight just over 9 and half stones. Someone i know approached me today and asked if i would help them out with thier pony as they are too big and heavy to ride it. They basically said the pony is very sharp and is too much for children. Its only 12.2 but am assured i am not to heavy as its a weight carrier?? i havent seen the pony but am a little unsure as to whether i will be too big for it?
What do you think??
 
You'll look a bit silly, that's for sure!

But I don't imagine it'll do the pony any harm, especially if you're not riding him for a long time every day. We have an 11h Welshie at the riding school, and he was being a complete pratt in a lesson and napping, refusing to come out of the corner of the school! The little boy riding him got upset, so the instructor had to get on and sort the little pony out! She looked ridiculous, but the pony was fine. He even managed to put in a few rather impressive bucks to let her know he didn't appreciate actually being made to work properly!

this is what i thought!! i have a little 12.1 welshie and would love to have a go on him as hes so sharp and quick!!

My friend rode her 12.2 pony today but he really stocky and had no probs, i would say she was a good 10st but only about 5.4 in height..........

Think that is the best thing, all ponies ae different, on paper I would say , NO, dont ride her, but she could very well take that weight very well

You shouldn't be too heavy, and taller people have ridden smaller ponies

But that depends on the size. 12.2s can be anything from tiny to medium size depending on who measures them

I'm going to buck the trend here - a little over 9 and a half stone is well over ten stone once the saddle is on - and I assume you aren't riding naked! I'm 7st 10 so at least 8st clothed, plus tack... and at 5'2 I wobble about on a 12.2 as my knees are past where its barrel is widest. It's chunky and I don't think it's fair as my centre of gravity is all wrong and any imbalance will affect it's back and legs. Sorry but I think anyone over seven stone shouldn't be on a 12.2 for more than a few minutes - if at all
 
Not too heavy IMO, but def too tall - daughter struggles sometimes on the 11.2 she's riding as she's almost 5ft 2 and all legs - she has to be careful as her centre of gravity can be wrong with a little pony eg doing a big pop over a jump
