Am i too big on him? link to photo, please look

photo doesnt show, scroll down a bit and you'll find a black pony with a rider just from the side (not jumping photo). rider in pink top and purple hat cover.

As a fellow tall Fell rider (5'8" with a 13.3hh fell pony) - no you're not! Have a lovely summer enjoying your pony!

i feel very safe on him indeed, & it was xc & 8 mile ride so had my stirrups up.

aah, dont know if im getting stupidly tall on him for competing, but i could never sell him as hes 1 in a million and parents wont let me have two ( dont blame them as its very expensive)

I'm the same on my guy. I feel fine most of the time, my knee comes slightly over the knee roll. I think I ride with slightly longer stirrups than you, especially for schooling. How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? My boy is strong as an ox - I reckon he could carry 2 of me all day (and I'm not super-light)!

To be honest, if you had your stirrups at the correct lenght then your legs would hang well below his tummy,( as you seem quite tall ) but if you are comfortable riding him like that then that's all that matters as he seems well able to carry you.

There are so many more adults/tall people riding ponies now days that I wudnt worry about it, he is definately built/strong enough to carry quite a heavy chap so I wudnt worry about your weight or height.

Carry on and have lots of fun and fly the banner for ponies that can turn their hoof to anything :)

unfortunatly he is so flat backed his saddle has no whithers to sit on and he has the shortest neck ever so it gives the impression im sitting on his neck.

& haha that saddle wobbles all over so its tought be good balance.
We dont really want to pay £££'s for a new saddle and this was the only saddle we would find 2nd hand that didnt shoot up his neck etc.. we've used it on him since i got him about a year and a half ago and he seems to manage fine in it but gradually as ive grown ive watched my knees cover more and more of the knee rolls.

You don't look to heavy but quite tall; as long as you are comfy then you are fine

What they all said really! :)

Awww bless you hun, no i dont think your to big at all i used to ride a 13.2hh fell pony and i am near 5ft8 but he easily carried me. You obviously love him to bits so i say carry on as you are :) x

thanks everyone, cheered me up now as i thought i was going to have to move up a size and get a horse.

& as for the crupper, no. hes a fussy pony, but we are going to get the saddler out hopefull and get the gullet change to and x-wide.
