its looking qiute possible that i wont get the chance to go xc schooling before tweseldown. havent even jumped an xc fence since bath and west!

im gonna try and get out this week but if i cant what shall i do?

would it be alright to go without schooling? i did that last year but our 1st event was the intro at moreton and we know that course well!

Mmm, It is a dilemma isn't it! I did it one year, I was planning on starting at Bath & West Pre-Novice then straight up to Novice the following week, but Bath & West was cancelled so I had no choice but to go to Aldon with no xc schooling at all under my belt

My trainers advice to me was to warm up well over the xc fences. Luckily I knew my boy well enough and he flew round the Novice.

This year I have a horse who I haven't done any xc schooling on since I first got him in 2006! He did 3 Pe Novices last year with someone else to get experience but I am planning on taking him to Bath & West in a few weeks time to do the Intro, I will hopefully have been to Pontispool schooling before then, otherwise I will withdraw.

(Actually, the xc pic in my siggy was taken at Aldon that year I hadn't gone xc schooling, he looks fine doesn't he?)

I was thinking about this for some bizarre reason today, esp as my mare is in foal and hasnt evented for a few years, but i realised i didnt go XC schooling once before the last season she did...

I think if you have jumped your fencies, had a play with angles etc over show jumps then you should be fine. Just take it steady until you both feel confident
