Went to hospital today for a check up.

Short story...

No driving for six weeks (so four weeks and six days left of that).

No riding for six weeks AFTER last symptoms have disappeared, so that could be another TEN weeks.

Sorry to shout, but so pee'd off
frown.gif

So many thoughts and so many things on the go, but nothing at fruition yet so nothing that can be relied on other than me.

Waste sooooo much of this year on faffing about and enjoying myself. If had got act together some of the pressure would be off, so at least I'd just be pee'd off about the riding.

Have spoken to instructor and she's going to ride the Dizzy one, but being realistic that's only going to be once a week for a while. And that will only last for as long as I can work, and that will only last for as long as client is being patient with me.

Oh bl00dy poo

Sh!t sh!t sh!t.

And before anyone says 'Oh get on sooner, it won't matter', don't bother!

It will be worth it when you're all better and can start properly without having to worry. You know you need to be safe, you had a lucky escape. Lots of HHO and hot chocs to pass the time. Can you lunge Dizz or does her pelvis cause her trouble? What about a bit of long reining?

oh hun, im so sorry, have a big hug. life is sh1t sometimes, your luck really needs to change soon, you've had far more of bad luck than you deserve.
you know where I am if you need to chat chick
x

I know hun.

Just having a major strop as didn't expect it, daft though that may sound
blush.gif
Because they didn't have to operate, didn't consider it that drastic, obviously not good, but would get back on in two weeks and be driving soon.

I blame the head
wink.gif

It would really be my worst nightmare not being able to ride. I have only had to stay out of the saddle once and that was when i got sciatica but i was due on holiday 3 days later so it didn’t feel that bad as i wasn’t sat at home, thank god.

I hope you heal quickly and strongly, good luck trying to stay sound of mind!!!!

Last Sunday Dizzy when left and I went right - mental note, when horse goes left rider must go left also, especially at speed!

Ambulance, bleed on brain, three days in hospital. Feel like have a permanent head stuffed full of cotton wool (but at least have stopped being sick

).

Ta hun

I am near Nottingham
grin.gif
. But, the Dizz is an acquired taste lol. She's not dangerous per se, as in doesn't rear, buck or bolt, but she's flaming good at going backwards fast and spinning
grin.gif
. Daughter and hubby and friends will help out, as ever (lucky me!
smile.gif
). It's the fact that once again I can't ride for weeks. Everytime we get started and get going, something happens

You'll have to come and meet her any way

hope you have a v.speedy recovery

No probs hun

Is Life. Most of the time I smile sweetly and get on with it - have a job that sometimes deals with things that puts my whinges well into their place, but just occasionally such stoicsm escapes me.....!

Yes, I have to say, HHO has probably saved my sanity
grin.gif
. I found it when I was in the pits of despair over my last horse and it has helped prop me up through thick and thin ever since
grin.gif
. Made some excellent friends of the 'for life' type and for that I will always be grateful
grin.gif
.

Oh pants!!! Very frustrating for you!

Will NOT say "get on earlier"!!! Head injuries can take a while to heal and you should take all the time off suggested by the doctors. It is very frustrating and very difficult, but I hope the time goes by a lot faster than you think now.

As someone who had a very similar accident to you last year. Flew out of front door, via head at 10000mph!!! DO NOT even think about getting again til the all clear Mrs, and thats an order!!!

I did get on, but was so wonky, and out of sync I fell straight back off first spook.

I've been meaning to post on your other updates.

The sypmtoms you describe are all normal. As you say it's not something that gradually gets better unfortuanely, one day will be good then another bad, but the good days will gradually outweigh the bad.

Chin up hun. The dizzy one will still be gorgeous, and you'll be fghting fit, the 2 most important things.

Loads of love x x x

ETA you can join my newly started clique! 'Next year HAS to be better than this year' clique! x x

Can I join that clique too??!!

Oh Mrs M, you've got to get a break sometime!!! You'll just have to sit it out. Life is sh*t, and don't I know it!!!!

I really feel for you - took me nearly 2 years before I really got started with my horse and it has been a slow progress with many ups and downs along the way....though I haven't had any injuries, they were all the horse's. Gentle *hugs* and get well soon vibes!

Ah Mrs M, please don't be too peed off. At least you are on the mend. Dizzy will still be there waiting for you when you are given the all clear, and if you look at it from someone who knows, it is only a tiny piece of time in the whole of your life that you have got to hang in there. Chin up.

Lol, I remember thinking of that clique last year...

.

I have had a very lucky and happy life, and inbetween the cr*p it still is, just sometimes the cr*p squidges me and I find it hard to be positive. Don't get me wrong, I am certainly no sweetness and light bunnysome who goes around seeing the best in all situations, but I'm usually reasonably upbeat.

Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts
grin.gif

ISHY, you know you're always welcome hun
smile.gif

Cally - as soon as I can string two sentances together and don't feel the urge to fall asleep mid-natter, you'll be welcome to meet HRH The Dizzy One
grin.gif

Shame I'm not nearer to you as I would be happy to help! I have a chestnut TB mare who can turn on a pin head when she feels like it and can throw a fantastic jink to the left or right when cantering. Also a very good 60 to 0 when cantering too (that really does hurt!) In 10 years she has dropped me about three times - I have aquired a bloomin' good seat from riding her (not boasting! I'm not a pretty rider but I do stick to the saddle well - had to learn to!) so I know just what it's like for you.

I have been very lucky though although my last fall 3 months ago has left me with deep bruising that still hurts. She also just missed my face with her front hooves and for that I am eternally grateful. I hope you heal quickly and can get back in the saddle soon. Maybe it's time to pass your horse on unless, like me, you love them too much to let them go!

Big hugs Mrs M, I know what having a daft horse is like xx

poor you - very frustrating, but she'll still be there when you are all better and back to full health
smile.gif

Sorry - very annoying thing to say when you are feeling all frustrated, but take comfort from happy vibes you'll have when you do get back to it !

You keep mentioning 'the client' - do you do anything exciting?

Sorry to hearthis Mrs M - I know where you are coming from - listen to this!

4March 09 At last get my new horse - after looking for months & months - anticipating a lovely Spring and Summer getting to know each other!
April 09 Aforementioned horse spooks at something when leading him in - he runs over me and I crack several ribs - cannot ride for 3 weeks.
May 09 notice strange lump on middle finger - back riding but have other worries - retired mare has to be pts amongst other things. New horse a definite handful! Go off to Maldives on holiday.
June 09 back from hols - stsart riding - notice lump on finger getting bigger.
July 09 Still riding but lump on finger very big - get referred to see Dermatologist
OUTCOME: Have skin cancer of middle finger -have not ridden from July. Have very fetching scar from skin graft and badly scarred finger. Consultant seen last week and I MAY be able to ride in a couple of weeks' time.
In the intermim new horse has become a complete pr*t only being ridden once a week by my friend. Wouldn't trust anyone else on him!

Whoever said that "patience is a virtue"!!!!! Get well soon and follow Doctor's orders!!!!

More thank yous all
smile.gif

I know it's not drastic in the great scheme of things, just been over a year of blahness, so a bit bored of it now!

I'm a consultant - not the useful medical type, the business type. I own a consultancy company. Have all sorts of clients
smile.gif
, but always one main one that all else hangs off. Think I need to do something about that!

Hi MrsM someone else has probably already said this but I cant read whole thread as I am busy burning the dinner. Its OK I will know when its ready as the smoke alarm will kick in.

Is it not possible to spend the grounded weeks training from the ground as in lungeing long-reining etc. I can understand where you are coming from as if I was laid up for 10 weeks I would probably have to sell Dribble or just turn him away as his present yard he is stabled a lot.

It would be my worst nightmare!!

Aww, what yucky news! I do hope you get things sorted out with your client. Is your work such that it can progress while you're sitting on the sofa with your hot choccy?
