Morning peeps!!!
Well, thank you first for all the sun dances, the rain held off for my lesson which was a god send as frankly my saddle was still damp from Sunday!!!
I had already decided that hte saddles I had to try out, would not be bought as I can't afford the expence right now, so I rode - dressage style - for my lesson in my lovely old GP saddle.
Well, first shock of the lesson was I had never known or been told where my legs should be riding a circle! Gasp you may, but frankly I had no idea!!! So after realising the error of my ways, trainer got me riding 20M circles in the correct position with 4 poles at each side of the circle (if you get me - I know circles don't have sides LOL).... It was also great as Bonnie started learning to take care of where her feet were and to get out of trouble and not fall over the poles - useful training for pot eventer!
We then did it all in canter - alot harder for us both as she has a tendancy to buck in her transitions, but again rider error at fault!!! learnt to sit tight, hold my chest (or tits as my trainer likes to call them) out, and my pony tail down and again use correct aids so she has no chance of bucking! It worked, and we had some lovely canter / pole work on a 20M circle by the end. Trainer v v impressed with my riding - and compliments don't come cheap with her, and she is also fairly fond of the Bon Monster, even if she is cheeky and quirky!
So - all in all a really great lesson.
Not sure if my event on Sunday will run, however it's down the road, and the ground is drying. it's not meant to rain again till friday and then dry apart from that - hope we can, but not going to risk the mare if i am in any doubt, studs or no studs...
Cheers guys!
