Amazing! No takers on my horse who I'm offering someone to ride for free!

Same here, just lost the person who was riding my No.2 horse so I could get No.1 out. No cost involved or work. But neither horse fit for thundering around, so perhaps that was it, too boring!

I found that last year when I couldn't ride. My horse is a XC monster, and loads of teenagers were desperate to ride her, but when they realised that there was a lot of fittening to do before any jumping could be done, the enthusiasm petered out!

Yes, its so frustrating. Just checked out Pre Loved and contacted someone on there so fingers crossed. Shame some of you lot can't move down to Cornwall - its very pretty here you know!!

I think the problem is that when looking for a sharer/horse on part loan there is a relatively small geographic area to be convenient. Then you need to find someone at the right time ( I see fabulous horses when I already have one and nothing when I was looking)

I have a lovely gelding who I could do with a bit of help keeping fit. I put a post on here about him a couple of months ago, had one PM which I replied to and then never heard from them again! Then I put it on a specific FB page and whilst it got a bit of interest, the only person who came out to try him turned out to be totally unrealistic!

I'm stunned - I'm not asking for any monetary contribution, and said person can ride up to 4 times a week - usually during the week but some weekends. All I asked is that what days they ride is agreed the weekend before. The horse is lovely, big, but lovely so I'm just amazed there is nobody out there that would like to come and share him with me!

Sigh!
I know exactly what you mean Porkpie. I have been advertising since end of last year for a competition rider. No money wanted, ride 3 to 4 days a week, no work involved, compete at shows (I pay entry fees, get horse ready and travel it there in my lorry, basically do everything) and I have had a terrible job finding anyone.

I advertised on Preloved and I have had a yound girl apply and she came up the other day and I am hoping that she is the one. she was very sweet and bright and willing to learn further (horse is working at elementary).

People have said to me that they thought I would be inundated with replies but no I havent been.

May be worth putting an ad on Preloved after all its free.

I see so many posts like this and they are never around me  I was searching for a share horse for 2 years and now I've just started exercising a little podgy cob.
He's not what I would have chosen for myself but it means I get to ride and it gives me something to work at over the summer, (just left school). He wasn't easy at first but I persevered and he's really progressed and we're starting to get a bond :)

The websites I looked on were Preloved and Equine Adverts, I'm sure that if you put up an ad someone will come along eventually, you just have to give it time. Especially now that many people have finished school and college :D

The owner of the pony I ride is going to sell him eventually so sooner or later I will be on the hunt again :( I hope you find someone soon! If I were closer I'd definitely be interested :)

Same here, got one kid who tells me she can muck out [out at grass], one week she had no money [to buy him], this week she has got money, I have had to block her, from the picture she only a kid, not very near me.
I have ads on preloved and on Equine Ads, plus local RC.

I haven't really been looking as I have had horsey stuff to do, but I always keep an eye on the adverts, just in case one comes up that wants a 40-odd year old fatty (but with a very good light seat and hands) to ride their horse a couple of times a week, or even just lunge, drive or walk out in hand (if it is sane). I live in south east London but am happy to drive out to the Kent borders, I have years of experience, I poo pick, groom and do most stuff, but I am rusty, so I tend to second guess myself. I don't want to set the world on fire, I can only do a couple of evenings or weekends, I can't do work times, or school hours, which is what people seem to want.

All that is about are small ponies or people looking for a lightweight adult, or people that have a big horse that needs "bringing on to compete" (nutter). I would be happy to contribute towards the right horse, but don't want a share. I have 4 horses 300 miles away - and if I wanted to keep one I'd move one down here. I'd just like to keep my hand in and do 'stuff'. Yes it is hens teeth!

I have been having this problem as some of you may know.

I want my horse ridden for the summer. He's a nice horse, 16.2hh, won dressage, good hunter, v handsome, black 4 White socks stripe etc.
Good to do.

All I want is someone to ride him while I'm pregnant.

Summer only but they can carry on if they like him.
Nothing to be paid and they don't need to do anything for him - I will even get him in and tack up!
They can come anytime - weekdays, weekends, or just when the sun shines.

All I ask is that they are older than 16, not mental and can canter safely. They don't even need to be good enough to school him and he's v forgiving.

Still - no takers :(

Unfortunately I think my own horses are nearer to you than I am! :D (Tucked safely up with Mum in darkest Northumberland).

Some of the request for sharers do make me smile though; I think some people want a free stable hand rather than a sharer/rider :)

Some of the ones on here sound perfect, just too far away - typical.

I have been bringing on someone's section C's,which are ride and drive, just to help out whilst he is ill, but I'm too big for the ride bit. I am enjoying giving them attention and long reining etc. There is a big cob in the field to be started again, which in all honesty I could probably do easily, but I'm not sure I'm feeling that brave as with advancing years comes advanced self preservation! :p

I'm looking to exercise someone's horse and helps with duties near gravesend Kent but have had no luck I'm 19 have a diploma in horse care from Hadlow college have been loaning for at least 3 years and have been riding since I was 12 if anyone want to contact me your more than welcome

I know people don't want to pay to school someone else's horse but what do they think the owner does? They have to school too. Keep the horse fit and safe etc. It's jot just all good fun going out for a hack and gallop! Surely a share is about actual spending time with the horse and taking some responsibility!! Do people actually realise that £15-20 pw only pays for around a quarter of the cost of a horse (or less!). If u can ride for at least a quarter of the week and it's lesson than a 1 hr lesson at a riding I don't c what the big deal is.
Ok I'm not talking about a mental horse from scratch or similar but if horse ok just need fittening up and keeping ticking over with correct schooling

I'd love to do that, I'm not far away, but have no car at the moment...there always seems to be some reason why these things can't work out the way we want them to. Still I PM'd you, just in case :)

It might be worth looking on Equine Adverts. I have put an ad on there for a competition rider as I had a young girl riding for me but she has had a very nasty fall from her own horse and is out of action for quite sometime so I am back looking again. No money either way and ride when you like.

There is a section on Equine Adverts for Riders Wanted and Riders looking for Rides. Might be worth a browse.
