Yeh I would say it is parelli, or natural horsemanship in some form. Just thought it best not to mention it in the title in case a war breaks out. At least he is not trying to sell fancy headcollars
The man who breaks my horses in France works likes that. He persuaded one of my more highly strung Arabs to lie down in the arena with him on board 40 mins before this happened he had never seen the horse.
i have also watched him ride without a saddle or bridle and get a horse to do a perfect forehand turn to open a gate, walk through and then turn again to close it. Also NO stick.
I do agree with you. An English friend and I have this discussion all the time is it a gift or can you teach someone? People who are good with horses have the body language and are totally without adrenalin.
Again my man in France had a two year old paint stallion. He traffic proofed him by taking him walkies from his bicycle. When we visited him he introduced us to the young horse in the field, picked up a foot, the young horse lay down and he climbed on his back as the horse got up he slid off - too young to ride - 'He is backed he said with a laugh'.
He trained with John Lyons in the USA if you google that you can see details of the training.
He's a remarkable horseman. I, personally, don't care much for the 'tricks', like rolling a horse onto his back, making him sit like a dog, etc etc, but hey ho. I liked the riding bits
Surely he is training stunt horses? I don't see why it would be Parelli just cos he's doing a demo without a bridle or saddle? I've seen a fair few stunt riders and trainers and they often demonstrate without equipment in order to show the control they have, they do not use the Parellu method, most of them are as good as if not better horsemen than Parelli himself.
As soon as I saw the sticks I thought "oh right.." expecting it to be another load of parelli tripe, but this was quite fantastic, loved the jumping xc with nothing on! You could see on the riding ones, it looked like he was using his sticks to tap a beat down to the front feet (or at least thats what it looked like to muggins here!)
Horse looked like it was enjoying itself and in very fine fettle, no complaints here.
