My vet's friend is looking for an American QH, willing to import but wants to know a good place to import from. She contacted two breeders in the US, one tried to sell her a lame mare and one refused point blank to export.

The two I know in MT won't export and only do cattle horses, so no good for her anyway.

Feel free to pm or comment with details if possible, I said I'd ask around. x

Horse dealers are the same the world over!

Has she asked the people at AQHA UK for help as they have people who have imported.

What is the horse for?

Not sure why your friend would want to import when there are lots of good breeders of QH in the UK.

As above contact or look at AQHA UK wesbite.

quite a few of the breeders that are listed on AQHA.UK website import. Evans Quarter Horses have a very good relationship with a US breeder and bring in quite a few horses every year.
We went to the US to look for a QH yearling and ended up buying in the UK, simply because we were able to buy exactly what we wanted and for a lower price. When we factored in the shipping on top, we saved a lot of money.
Your friend just needs to do some research, talk to as many breeders as poss, even look in Europe too - western riding is more popular in Germany and Italy for instance, than the UK.

hi, i imported a qh from america four years ago through mcentire reining horses nr new york although i did purchase him from indiana. an alternative is nedpoint quarter horses who are very good and they also breed qhs. it depends on what type of qh your friend wants really, reining, cowhorse or hunt seat, pleasure bred. other websites you might find interesting are www.pleasurehorse.com or www.aqha.com or www.wittelsbuerger.de (a german website)

We bought our QH from Potts Performance Horses in East Windsor, Connecticut. TR Potts in a close family friend and one of the best I've worked with. Granted, my horse is still in CT, but they might be willing to export. They may even have some connections in the UK that they can put you in touch with. Here's the website, http://www.pottsperformancehorses.com/

Hey thank you all! I've jotted down the names/addies you gave me and will give her a bell on Monday, that's really helpful, I appreciate it and I'm sure Liz will too x

these do a full export service from the US I know people who have used them .... www.nedpoint.com

Hi,
I've imported horses from the US. Have bought from both ranches and private sellers. They've all been imported through Nedpoint who are excellent. (Nedpoint also have several horses for sale)
As buying from anyone here or in the US, you just need to be careful.
PM me if you need any more info.
