Hi all,

I am a brand spanking newby to this forum but am looking forward to getting some great advise off some fantastic horsey people.

Anyway..... I currently have an Amerigo Alto dressage saddle on my boy and have been using this for schooling, dressage comps and hacking etc. I have only had him 8 months but would like to start doing some jumping etc with him which I can't do in this saddle (also I don't really want to use it for hacking as it should be kept for schooling and shows).
I have been looking at getting the Vega GP saddle as I thought this would be a good saddle for hacking in and I could jump in it.
My main question is, would I be better getting this or an Amerigo jump saddle, bearing in mind I can't afford a jump and a GP and I am not planning on going to the Olympics!

Thanks all.

P.s Why isn't my piccy showing?

Hello,
A few years or so ago I had an Amerigo jump saddle-I think it was called a "DJ" or something like that- it was lovely to ride in and so so secure- I used it for jumping, hacking etc, my horse outgrew it so i sold it- I had Amerigo's for years, they are lovely quality and if you get the right model with the right tree, they are very nice!- I cannot comment on the Vega as have personally never sat in one!

Maybe sit in a few different types and see which you like and what suits your horse the best- when I bought mine I remember siting in their single flap event saddle and I just couldn't get on with it!- If it were me I'd go for the jump saddle if it suits your horse because as you progress with your jumping you won't be held back by having a g.p saddle if that sort of makes sense!

Good luck happy saddle shopping!- I'm sorry I've no idea about the photo prob you are having as I have no idea when it comes to uploading pics and stuff- Someone will be able to help you though!

The amerigo vega jump is a close contact saddle (well the monoflap is!) so prob wouldnt recommend you hack in it as its use is as a jump saddle for use in short durations. The gp might be your better option if you are planning to sit in it for longer periods. Have you thought about a gp-jump saddle? Then you could have the best of both worlds if you are not jumping olympic stuff!!!

Thanks all for the advice.

Think I'll try both and see how they feel as K27 suggested but probably envision myslef going for the Gp as not sure how far I'll go with the jumping as Mainly do dressage, haven't jumped for years and am a bit of a wuss!

X :o
