Am trying to decide between the Amigo and the Rambo Protector, will def get one of them though there is a big price difference and being that my mare goes through one every summer the cheaper one would be better but the Protector one looks more of a snug fit and it has a belly pad which is good as the flys love my mares belly. So is the Amigo ok or would the Protector be better, gosh not sure

Im a big fan of Amigo rugs and am going through the same decision making process as you at the moment.

I am leaning towards the protector as the fabric looks much more robust to me and I want to be able to leave my big lump out all night in it without him trashing it!

I have the protector, it's very tough if that helps. looks virtually un-rippable to me. However it is a little stiff so doesn't make the coat shiny or anything.

Have the Amigo on my three mares and they are brilliant, love them, one of my girls is a rug trasher and she's doing just fine in it........reasonably priced too......

I'm a big fan too! have all the collection apart from a fly rug! They fit my mare soooo well.Have nothing bad to say about them.I think i'll get the protector as my mare is renown for ripping rugs-her only downside i think actually!

I have the Amigo and it is quite good but it doesn't cover their belly, the neck cover isn't a brilliant fit (it doesn't cover much of their neck and there is a bit of a gap where it attaches to the rug) and the material isn't that strong and it looks like it would rip easily, although my mare wore it all last summer and it hasn't ripped but she doesn't rip rugs. Overall though I think it is good value for money, but if your horse rips rugs you would probably be better spending a bit more and getting the Rambo one.

I have an Amigo summer turnout that fits great but the Amigo bug rug wouldnt go near him, it was strangleation mode round his neck and long in the length. Love the look of the new Rambo protector.

I have bought the Amigo Bug Rug this year and am really pleased with it. It has apparently been re-designed for 2007 and I haven't had any problems with the neck staying up or any gaps and it is a good fit - my mare is a chunky Hanoverian. I have also got the showerproof underneath bit too although haven't had the need to use it yet but it fits well and seems like a good idea!
