Now - I have been a dedicated advocate for Horseware Ireland for years and my Wug's are the best rugs (along with Bucas) that I have ever owned...

However are not cheap at £250 a pop

So When the Amigo range was launched I was interested in quality. I know the neck is shorter, less fill and less denier to outter - but are they any good? Ive seen them ALL over Hope Valley and Ebay for £50!!

To me that just seems far too cheap for a medium weight decent rug???
 
I have an amigo stable rug that I'm happy with, and considering another. Not sure you would persuade me away from premier equine for turnouts though.....
 
Amigos are fine for my ISH but a bit light for the TB. Love their rain sheets - brilliant value for money and fit in my washing machine!

Just checked their web site and my boy takes a 5'3 they start at 5'6 - FAIL!
 
I've only ever used Amigo no-fill lightweight turnouts. The Hero (I think it was called) was a nice rug, and at a good cheap price, however with the Hero I did learn to get a size 3" bigger than usual.

However the Hero has now been changed to the Mio. I've got 2 of these on 2 different horses (again 3" bigger than their usual size) and although there's no problem with them, they are nowhere near as good as the Hero was for a similar price, much less depth at the sides and the blue bottom strip is apparently not waterproof.

So, although the 2 Mio rugs are doing the job just fine, they are a definite drop in standard from the previous no-fill turnout. (Just had to buy yet another no-fill, for yet another horse - and decided to try out a completely new brand this time instead of getting a 3rd Mio)
 
Agree with others the 1200 dernier ones are gr8. New horse came with a mio & I think its rubbish, she's been wet under her rug in some of the really wet weather & my other 2 in their 1200 several years old amigos have been fine.
 
I had a couple of Amigo lightweights and they both leaked, however I've since bought a couple of the Amigo 1200D Medium Turnouts with the necks and I'm pleased with those - however, had to get next size up for both horses as they do seem to come up small.

I think they are good value, but for medium and heavy turnouts I would never get less than 1000D which I feel helps to make them more waterproof.

I've yet to find any brand of rug - Amigo, Bucas, Weatherbeeta for example, who can make a lightweight turnout that doesn't leak. Drives me nuts.

Bucas Irish Light weight - its water proof even in Wales!!!!! 100% !!!

But I always buy two lightweights at a time as use them so much in Spring - a little in summer if like it was last year and through the winter until clip.

So mine tend to keep quite well as are alternated that said - hes gone days out in the same one and have never ever had a drop under his rugs.

Nice cotton lining too
