I am after a rug literally just to keep my boy dry before he is ridden. He has a thick coat so needs no warmth...
Has anyone got an amigo summer TO? Is it any good? and what do the amigo sizings come up like? (He's a 5ft in weatherbeeta rugs).

I have an Amigo LW Turnout 1200 ripstop Denier. The summer one is 600D.

Sizing seems bang on - Amy takes 6ft rugs and that is what I bought her.

Can't rait Amigo's highly enough generally.

I like my Amigo lw (I have the pink one!) - it's waterproof, and ripstop like it should be (the rip in it hasn't got any worse... must get it repaired!).
Mine is a 7' and it is exactly 6" too big on my 6'6" horse (is 6'6" in Weatherbeetas) that the rug came with, so I'd say their sizing is about right!
Good rug for the price!

I've got the summer turnout - they are lovely rugs, but unfortunately mine no longer fits... It never leaked and she was out in some heavy downpours and was always warm.

The only criticism I've got is they are not adjustable at the front fastenings, and there isn't a lot of shoulder room (might not be a problem for you). I found it restricted her movement, and rubbed her shoulders.

I've now got the L/W landa weatherbeeta which I prefer.

Brilliant, have the 1200 denier one and it fits my TB mare a treat, she is in her normal rug size and you would think it has been made to measure.....Excellent rug...

I have the summer lightweight one and my boy has been wearing it all through this torrential rain recently. It hasn't leaked at all and he has been warm and dry in it all night.
It's exactly the right size for him, doesn't rub or move. I am delighted with it.

ets: I like it so much I have bought the medium weight one for later in the season!

I've got a brand new Amigo turnout with neck on trial for one of the horse mags - the green one. first time he had it on we had one heavy shower and it leaked like a colander! Won't be getting a good write up!

As posted previously - I have a LW one which I'm delighted with. Also had a mw with neck cover for other horse - again fabulous.

I wonder if you have been unlucky and actually got a faulty rug???

Unless it's just this years model - doesn't really matter to me - it's brilliant on dry days and it's on test for mag so it's not like I paid for it - would have taken it back if I had!

Other than the leaking it's nice, fits well (even on my big shouldered/necked horse

Think I'll just do a DIY job with some silicone sealer over the seam where the neck cover meets the rug!

Fab fab rugs! Don't leak and not thick at all so perfect for rainy summer days etc. Springy still has hers on at the moment until she gets clipped. I have a 6'9" for Spring and it fits her well and she has large shoulders and is a bit rotund

Check which denier it is....the 'girly' colours seem to be 600 but the navy ones (which many of us have) are 1200 and seem much more able to withstand the wet.

I have two, a light weight and a medium, 6ft and perfect. Never leaked and fit like a glove. Can't praise them highly enough. I also have a big rug as horse has sweet itch and again it is brilliant!

Spaniel - its the amigo Plus Turnout - 1200 denier! But is't the seam where the neck meets the rug that leaks - all down inside the shoulders - poor clipped boy came in wet through from his shoulder, down behind his shoulder blades and round under his belly - inside of the rug was sopping

gonna seal it with silicone bathroom sealer!

Good tough rugs that fit well and don't slip or rub. I had a medium weight amigo turnout on my thug of a yearling who lived out in it all last winter. It never slip or rubbed and he was always warm and dry. I have always used rambo rugs and the amigo is excellent value for money.
