Amigo v Rhino v PE

Amigos fit my mare better than rhinos. I don't like PE rugs on her - the last one leaked, belly straps were very weak and then they stretched by 3"!!!

But the PE rugs are deeper I think than the horseware rugs, so depends on what you need.

I've never had any problems with amigo or rhino rugs leaking, and they've always lasted well :)

have one of each ;) rhino all the time. The PE rugs are good, fit well and don't really leak but they get very heavy when wet and take longer to dry than the rhinos.

Rhino... Have had mine well over 10 years and its still going strong, has fit 3 different horses, and with an annual wash & repriof is as good as the day I bought it! Have Amigos to and really rate them too, but if I had the choice I'd pick a Rhino

Depends on which of the PE brand of rugs you mean - they do 'cheaper ones' too ;)

Amigo & Rhino are only 2 of the Horseware brand.

Of the PE brand I have nothing but praise for the Trio and the Stormbuster rugs, not so impressed with the Bustino (on a friends horse as the straps DID stretch & it has ripped) and the Buster range is okay (I also have the Buster200) but neither of the latter 2 are anywhere as good quality as the Trio or Stormbuster rugs - IMHO

:)

I love my premier equine turnouts they are brilliant, really waterproof and a lovely fit. I have an amigo stable rug too though that is a bit more snug on the shoulders but still nice and good quality. Though I prefer the fastening on the chest of the PE.

I also have a rhino and I hate that. It rubbed my girl badly and is a horrid fit.

I have amigos and premier equines. Amigo 1200d was destroyed by my boy and premier a equine looks like new minus mud!

If the PE fit well, get an Axiom instead. Better quality for a lot less money.

I've found the Rhino far better quality than the Amigo but also a much narrower fit, so useless on my wide deep chested horses.

Love both my amigos and rhinos. Fit well and never leak. Sent the PE ones I ordered back as unimpressed with both fit and quality. Customer service sucked when it came to dealing with my return too

Throwing something different in but I've recently bought a shires stormcheeta 2000d. Very impressed at the moment as the rain beads and rolls off.

Friends mare has the PE and she looks like she's wearing a cocoon sleeping bag. Which I'm guessing may play havoc with manes because of the close fit.

I'll let you know next winter if I'm still loving the shires :D forgot to add at the moment it's withstanding daily bites from a playful pony friend.

No experience of PE and Amigo but would definitely recommend Rhinos. The outer is much better than other makes I have used - stronger and more waterproof but it feels really light and doesn't soak up the water. I think the newer ones are deeper in the body than they used to be. My only wish is they did something between the no fill and the medium weight, which I think is 200g.

Well in the end I went for the rhino! Just hope I don't regret it!!!! Thought the 450g would restrict it's use to only in weather such as this now rather than all winter.

My personal fave and what am using currently are the rambos, but I love the rhinos and the amigos also.Out of the two the Rhinos are prob better quality, but amigos are great considering the price.

Not tried the PE turnout rugs, but had a fly rug once that was so ridiculously deep size wise compared to other brands that put me off buying them.

I can only comment on the Amigo, bought my first one a couple of years ago and I love them. At the moment my mare is currently wearing the Amigo 1200D medium weight with neck attachment, she's fully clipped apart from legs and she is cosy warm in it.
