I got my Amigo bug rug with vamoose out of storage yesterday to find that all the fittings have rusted and the rust is in patches on the rug. I only got it last July. It was stored with my other rugs in a box and none of the others have any rust at all, it wasn't damp but it feels a bit sticky like it always has presumably due to the impregnation. I'm wondering if maybe the vamoose stuff has reacted with the fittings to make them rust? It just seems a bit weird as it isn't very old and with turnout rugs even when they are wet all the time the fittings don't rust this quickly. Has anyone else had problems with theirs?

Ooohh noooh........ I've looked at the Vamoose rugs and thought about them, but then decided they were a bit overpriced for what they were basically, especially as they're going to get wet at some point either through accident or design and that is going to wash out the Vamoose, surely??

I'd contact the manufacturers TBH, this shouldn't have happened surely?

Had my Vamoose rug 5 summers and only this year will I replace it, (couple of holes in it now, would prob be fine for most horses but mine gets completely worked up by flies so I want him to have best protection poss) so I have to say it has lasted very well. I cant say I've had any probs at all - its been rained on, sweated in and washed numerous times over the years and no doubt the vamoose washes out eventually (it says its good for 25 washes) but its still better than nothing and a good fly rug anyway even without the vamoose. Could it have been damp when you put it away? Or got damp somehow while being stored and its just more noticable on this rug because of the material/colour etc?

I have an amigo bug rug without the vamoose and have the problem with the rusting and patches of rust on the fabric too. never had it with any other brand

Never had probs with Vamoose Rambo but amgio fly sheet I brought was not good. Wish you could get a buzz charge and re Vamoose older rugs!

No it wasn't damp, it feels a bit sticky but it has always felt like that compared to other rugs which I assume is the impregnation. It was in a box with other rugs and the rest are all fine, it is just this one, which is why I wondered if the vamoose has reacted with the fittings in some way. The damage is on all fittings except the ones on the fillet string.
