Thinking about these for Goofy....

As much as i LOVE my weatherbeetas, the neck on his MW rubs his mane(i've had to sew 2 whacking great sponges in to the neck line to prop it up off him) and again although i LOVE my shires fly rugs, the same is happening.

He starting to really mature and look like a stallion, shoulders and crest developing etc. I am guessing these rugs just wont suit that shape :(

Has anyone tried the Amigo XL range? I am hoping they will give more shoulder room so rugs can sit further back and more room for his crest.

His standard Amigo LW rubs the least, but the neck covers on the standard Amigos are so poxy-are they longer on the XL range?

I like the Amigo rugs - but I think anything with more than a "normal" width of chest will find Amigo's too tight. I use one on my older mare, and it suits her perfectly. My young arab has a fairly good width of chest and I just found the Amigo's were not roomy enough for her in the front end, so she is in PE rugs all round

Re the neck rugs - yes they are incredibly short! I always go up at least one size - but realise you may well run out of sizes (I usually only do small horses / ponies so do usually have that option!). PE rugs are also fairly skimpy on the neck cover sizes, but are better coverage than the Amigo, plus I think they have more sizes in neck covers more freely available.

Have you tried swish rugs? I find the necks on those to be much longer/ wider than most other brands, particularly the weatherbeetas.

swish sit about half way up bruces neck though so will be even worse on little square chunk goof :( think they would then rub middle of neck/mane/crest.

its like he needs a longer neck hole so it sits properly at base of neck and neck cover isnt pulled in to a crease at bottom.

They were the only rugs that fit my Friesian when she was still with us - she was a double Shermann tank so needed both chest width and depth. Have to get integrated necks as other horse likes to 'undress' his friends.

the XL's do not fit like the normal amigos, they are much bigger, my boy is pretty big around the neck and shoulders - I struggle to get stuff to fit at all, the XL's are great for him.

I have used the Amigo XL rugs on my Id horse they are 20% deeper in the neck and 20% deeper in the drop on the rug, if it is a fly rug you after i found these a bit more generous than the turnouts but great rugs .
