We have a 2009 colt foal by the young Zangersheide half-blood stallion Amiro Z, and I think that if there are other foals of his in the UK 2009 would be his first crop over here? If anyone else has had a foal of his this year, I would love to see pics, etc - we are very thrilled with our boy, he has rather more blood than his brother by the same dam (who is by Caretino Glory and won the BE Yearling In-Hand Championship at Tweseldown in 2008), and has not a nerve in his body!! He is very bold, and a real character, and seems to be much more similar in temperament to his aunt than to his sire ...... We should be so lucky if his performance matches that lol!!!

(Amiro Z's dam is full sister to Ratina Z)

We have one staying with us at the moment while his mummy is AI'd again .
He is huge but a complete dude very sweet natured .
Very flash chestnut with four white socks

My foal is the one at Groomsbridge Stud. I would like to put some pictures of him on here, but could someone please tell me how I do this.

His Mum is by Guidam.

Go to www.photobucket.com and register as a member. Then you will see a box near top of ther page with a button saying 'UPLOAD'. Click this and then you will be able to select the pictures you wish to upload. Once uploaded you will be able to click on individual pics to see them large or view a thumbnail screen of a lot of them. Hover your cursor over the selected pic and a load of boxes will appear beneath, each with different picture addresses for different formats. Click on the address in the bottom box (the IMG code) - this will copy it. Come back here and simply paste the address into your message and when you finish the message, the pic will appear on screen. There should also be step by step instructions on how to do it in the picture gallery.

Can't wait to see pics!

He is GORGEOUS!!! Can definitely see dad in him (as well as mum's dad!)! Are you pleased with him???

Excellent choice with Check In!!! We fell in LOVE with him last year and would love to use him on the right mare so will be keen to see pics of your baby when it arrives!

Thank you for your kind comments. Very pleased with him and he has a great temperament that he gets from his mum.

How exciting to see another Amiro Z foal!! Thanks so much for your pics : he looks a cracker, and it sounds as though he's a giant boy like our lad, even though Amiro is only 16.1. Our "Chip" (otherwise known as Devil Child) doesn't have a nerve in his body - he is incredibly bold, and goes up to the big horses and tries to bite them - no submission for him! I've been intrigued as to where he inherited his temperament, as Amiro Z when we met him was a complete softy, and Chip's damsire was also known for having a gentle temperament.... And then I saw a clip of Ludger Beerbaum on YouTube talking about Ratina Z. "I'll do it my way", "incredibly strong character", "larger than life personality" was how he described her. Oh-oh that's our Chip!!! We should be so lucky if he ends up with a quarter of her talent!!! This is him :

These were all taken when he was about 6 weeks old; he's now losing his foal coat and looking much prettier ..... (His dam is by Able AlbertXX out of a Diamond Lad mare)

A lovely big strong boy. They both seem to have powerful rounded bottoms !
The plan is to keep my boy and sell him when he is 5 or 6 as he comes from a good mother line and I would like to think he is good enough to make it worth the expense .
Best of luck with your foal. It will be great to see some more pictures when he is older.

Isn't it interesting to see the influence of the two dams, gwise? Older brother Fionn was very obviously an out-and-out eventing type pretty much from birth, but in spite of the TB influence I would say at the moment that Chip is more SJ built. If he goes to the Futurity we'll have the evaluator's feedback on that opinion, though. Chip does have some slight resemblance to his big brother, but you're right - both Amiro foals already have great "jumping bums" - we like that!!! I'll post some more pics of him in a month or so, and would love to see some of your guy a few months on .....

With regret Chip will be for sale on weaning - much as we would like to, we can't keep all our youngstock! I just hope that whoever buys him keeps in touch so that we can follow his career.

PS Am deeply envious of the grass in your field!!!!

Mum and foal are at Groomsbridge Stud and they have fantastic grass as well as being very experienced and knowledgeable.
I am goingt to the Futurity at Plumpton to watch, hope we can meet up if you are not too busy.

Brilliant! Do come and say hello - we are taking Fionn, our 2 year old, (he's the one in the 2 rhs pics), and 2 yearlings. Although Chip is entered the jury is still out on whether he will be ready - he had a degree of carpal valgus on a front fore and it is almost completely OK now, but the vet and farrier have advised that to just achieve the final stage of straightening from the fetlock he would benefit from having a medial extension fitted to the hoof. That's being fitted next week, and needs to stay on for 3 weeks ..... so its a bit close to the wire!!! We'll see how it goes. But we are only just up the road from the college, so you are very welcome to come and see him in the field if you would be interested ....
