Hi Becs, sorry been off line. Thanks you so much for asking after her.
Yes 14 days to go - unlikely though. We are sure we still have at least three to four weeks to wait.
I must take some new pictures, and meant to at the weekend - the sun is shining here today, so may do this evening.
Unfortunately we have a slight set back in that she is terribly lame. She was carting around in the field on Tuesday and aggrevated the ring bone
. I am able to get her out in to the small paddock in front of her stable - which is literally 5 steps, so she doesn't have to be stuck in, as she will be quiet.
Had some advice yesterday from the vet - but as she is significantly worse today he's going to come and look at her this evening. Not sure what we can do as I suspect that he will not want to give her drugs. However, being so near foaling I am worried about the stress and implications on the pregnancy.
I'm sure it will be fine - and obviously if she goes in to labour early then we will have a viable foal. Why oh why did she have to be so stupid???????
Will keep you updated - but feeling a bit low about the whole thing tbh........
Hannah went quite lame at 7 months, the vet thought she had something seriously amiss going on in her hock joint and put her on pain killers for a few weeks. However, he put her on Danilon which has not been tested on mares in foal and I would not risk it. So they then prescibed one called Quadrisol (I think that was what it was anyway) which has been tested sucessfully on mares in foal and after being on that for three weeks she was absolutely fine! I am going to have xrays done once she is back in work if anything flares up again, but the Quadrisol seems to have made those few weeks much more comfortable for her.
At least you can get her out... that will help her keep everything moving etc and also get some grass into her belly.
