An acre? Would someone be so kind as to help me out?

Ook so this may seem like a silly question which I thought I knew the answer to but now I am not so sure, despite being around horses most of my life knowing how much an individual horse needs etc. but.... what does an acre actually look like? If I was to see a single acre field what would be of an equivalent size?

Just frustrated curiosity really been bugging me of late

football pitch covers about 110 by 70 yards. An acre measures an area of land that is 70 by 70 yards. A football pitch is therefore about 1.5 times of an acre.

It is not as big as you think can't really explain but if you can wait until tomorrow, I will take a photo of my 5 acre, officially called that for obvious reasons

40mtrs wide by 60mtrs long = just under 1 acre (so bit more than 2 x long arena)

I like that one although it does mean that my parents always did have room for a pony

i think the best thing to do is download google earth and use the tools to draw round a field that would give you a rough idea

My plot here is 1000m by 40, which is about one acre. So it is the width of a small dressage arena and you can put in 5 of these side by side. Does that help?
