I keep thinking about an adult camp!
im not the most confident rider though 100% confident on my mare. but havent done xc yet....though that shouldnt be a prob...she evented to intermediate so knows her stuff.
whats involved? its not something id ever considered but am really enjoying doing more with my mare SJ wise and am atleast a decade to old for ponyclub camp!! and want to do a bit of xc etc and just have fun. Im in devon, if anyone can reccomend for nxt yr!

Go for it! I went to Pony Camp last year with my first horse, I'd had her 6 months and was 46 yrs old, and I wasn't the youngest there.

I didn't do the xc lesson or any jumping, but I did the fun games and flat work. There was also hacking out and evening fun.

No idea about adult camps in Devon, mine was at Plumpton in Sussex.

Adult camp is amazing. Iv been to mine for 4 years and am only not going this year as I am getting married the week after and have too much to do, I'm gutted though ( possibly the wrong thing to say?!) I got so much from camp every year, and met so many friends. I cannot recommend mine enough. Most definatly do it.

How old do you have to be to go to adult camp? im 20 but i cant bare to go to kids camp when they will all be better riders than me:o

I go to Plumpton too. It's minimum 18 years old and everyones put in ability groups so all levels going from cross poles to 3"+ and walk and trot dressage to elementary. You can watch lessons as well so there's tonnes to learn, and spending time away with your horse is brilliant.

very excited a friend at my yard offered to take me to her rc one im only 16 and will def b one of the youngest she told me but dont mind i cant wait definitely go for it! x

Me, Ruby's Gold and Chickeninabun went to one not so long ago, we had a great time, although a little saddle sore on the Monday!:o:D, it was a corker of a weekend too as it was red hot, so although you'll remember all the horse stuff and riding gear, don't forget to pack some sun cream.

We did flat work, jumping, there was XC, hacking, gymkana games, tig on horse back, was great fun.

...oh and don't forget the beers! and a good warm kipper bag, it can come rather chilly on a night :D

My friend wants to drag me along to an adult camp next year , we both have new horses and are not the most confident of people so it could be a good thing. Can people who have been recommend a camp to go to? thanks

There was an article on adult camp in this months H&R :)

I'd love to go to one but the ponys still pretty unfit atm and they are too pricey for me .

Sounds like loads of fun though!

Hmm sounds great. will check out stockland lovell and pontispool websites!
Havent broached the subject with the other half yet....im not sure how the "im thinking of going away for a couple of days...with the horse" conversation will go down!!!
but i think it would be great for me and the horse to do!

I'm intersted too as im in the same boat as you being in Devon and not the most confident rider when doing other things like XC etc. Never been to camp but would love to go but am worried that my little insecure Haffie mare might not cope so well with the change of routine.

is it ok to go with hired transport as in get dropped off and picked up by a horse transport company? as i dont have transport of my own.

which camp / company did you go with Kenzo?

My friend and I have just got home from Pony Camp! We have had an amazing time at the Warwick International School of Riding, it is for any age but we were the only oldies on our week I guess being school holidays, but we kept up with the kids and made some lovely friends. We took our own ponies and they soon settled into the routine of group lessons, jumping, gymkhana, gallops and xc. We had a sightesseing hack through Warwick Town and had our pictures taken by Japanese tourists! Accomodation is in bunkhouses, but we had a family room so a bit more privacy.

We are planning our next camp already, can anyone recommend anything for October half term?
