An awful day at the yard-vibes please

I would call him/his family - explain he needs the vet and you would like their ok to do so as horse maybe in pain. With everything that has happened it is probably the last thing on their minds (especially if not horsey) so maybe grateful for your help. I'm sure your friend will want to know his horse is ok and being looked after too.

Will put your mind at rest too - you are doing the right thing for the horse as well as being a good friend.

Just text my YO to see if she knew anything and she is going to treat his swelling herself under my friends instruction.

Sadly though he's said his riding days are over, wether this is due to the injury (he is having his arm pinned tonight) or wether he cant stomach it any more, is left to be seen.

Hope your friend is on the mend soon and pleased he is still looking after his horse - although I think any bills relating to his accident should be sent to his BIL - tw@t!!

Hi again Kit,

That is such a sad thing to hear. Please let him know how much support he has from us lot out here, + how upset we are that it happened. It's so sad that he is no longer able to enjoy riding, and has suffered a lot of pain, as a direct result of someone else's stupidity and utter lack of horsemanship.

Then again, if the brother-in-law is anything like a decent person, this will be on his conscience for the rest of his life. I doubt if family relationships in general will ever be the same. That's his sentence.

But what's going to happen to the horse, bless him?

Sincere best wishes to your friend, his horse and you x. This is something that never should have happened, let's hope that your sharing this story will help prevent other idiots from doing similar things in future. You've taken a lot of responsibility on board, all to your great credit.

With love, + continuing support, BS x
