An invitation to Robert Whitaker and Catwalk

I dont much like this guy either to be honest. I attended a clinic a couple of years ago in dublin, and what he did i wouldnt class as NH. There is a lady over here in Ireland who is his acredited trainer, and i actually liked her better when she was more parelli type. I dont like children using spurs to get their horses bending, or having a vienna rein whilst lunging, again to make the horse bend.

I say fairplay to the guy tbh .... I still cannot get my head around Robert Whitaker:

a) wanting to let PP anywhere near Catwalk ..... and

b) Not stopping the demo when it was way too much for him.

still quite an arrogant man and i would prefer it was not a public display. but why not?

I'm sure it would be possable to do it in a "semi private" place.
Horse and Country or similar filming,H&H/YH ect watching so the horse would CAN see without causing any further stress to Catwalk.

I agree he comes across as arrogant, but perhaps he like many other good experianced people is simply confident that he can deliver the goods?

Yes, the sighing made me want to punch him in the face.

He didn't really prove anything there, be interesting to see if he could walk the walk as well as he can talk the talk.

Where does Robert Whitaker say that it was 'way too much for him'? Has he issued a statement?

whats with the random sighing...actor he is not :-)

Clearly or the "added for dramatic effect" sighs would be in a more apropriate place :p

I don't know of this guy,but it would be good for the image and reputation of natural horsemanship if a NH trainer(and I realyl do not care who, there are plenty of good ones out there) could help Catwalk ( assuming he still has issues with the bridle).

The Parelli session has happened and can not be undone, but it would be great if out of this mess the message that whatever genre of horsemanship apeals to you you must choose your trainers and heros well comes out load and clear.

NH did not cause the problem,PP did.

The sighing is class, pure class:D

But apart from that - kudos to the guy, I think he is very astute! He has spotted a great business/PR opportunity and is pursuing it, at the same time attempting to help NH's image as a whole.

Yep,as long as he can do what he claims should RW take him up on it,it's a win win.

I read one of his books before, but when i saw him i was a bit disappointed. Hes very good with body language and posture, but from the methods he uses i wouldnt class him as NH. Hes not a bad trainer, just not NH.
But maybe he could do a better job than pat.

Very manipulative body language and use of speech. I'm not a very gullible person and I do get tired of yet another "trainer" launching themselves on the bandwagon on the basis of criticising someone famous for not being sympathetic enough to their horses. I am sure the bridling issues will be resolved quickly. What Mr. Manipulative here doesn't say is that horses are horses, not machines, sometimes they have issues. The thing is, he might be able to get a bridle on a horse but I doubt very much he would be able to jump Grand Prix level showjumping.

And I'm also sick of seeing these half dead, unnaturally quiet horses going around with their noses on the ground like dispirited riding school ponies, that seems to have become the trend of late.
