Today I decided to have a toodle on Ethel, hadn't ridden her since last Wednesday so gave her a quick lunge first. She fart-arsed around for a bit like she usually does even when she's not fresh but soon settled and was fine. So I got on her and as soon as I was in the saddle she did a small buck, I just put it down to her being a bit fresh and asked her to walk on. As we were walking she did a random little buck but I just gave her a nudge and asked her to walk on. I then asked her to trot and she practically put her head on the floor and brought her back up, feeling like she was going to buck but she didn't. I got her head up and kicked on but she did this about 4 times before finally trotting on. She felt like she really didn't want to go, so I left her to trot how she wanted to for a bit to loosen up incase she just felt a bit stiff, but after a while when I asked her to trot on a bit she bucked. I then stopped her trotting and just walked her round for a bit on a long rein to let her stretch and then jumped off. I'm planning on getting the vet out to have a look and have the usual teeth, back and saddle checks done, but what can I do for now?
Basically, what would you do in this situation?
Thank you x
