Hello, i never posted in here just wanted some opinions
my nan has a nearly 17 year old JRT X and hes getting old he cant control his bladder ect he has a stomach tumor as told by the vet hes old so obv we are not going to let him be pulled about with blood tests and getting it out ect, but now hes wee is really dark and has blood in his poo he doesnt seem in pain though, hes eating drinking ect ears are still foward ect, but my nan is debating the vets? will they just tell us what we already know ect? then again she said he doesnt seem in pain but how would we know? would it just be really obv?

thank you :)

If his wee is really dark it means his kidneys are packing up :( sadly.

You need to inform the vets of this straight away, kidney failure is terribly painfull.

Take the little poppet to the vets and help your Nan with the decision to let him go if its time.

17 is a grand old age for a little mite :) thoughts with you x

Sorry you had to pass on the bad news but you are doing what is best for the dog and thats all you can offer under these circumstances.

Any news? Hope you're all ok. I found a poem that applies to this -

In Loving Memory.

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad - I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
Only stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm, and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see,
It is a kindness you do to me...
